mode selection switch to the setting forautomatic operation as soon as possible.

Before freezing packages of fresh foods, make sure they are cooled to ambienttemperature.

Ice and frost layer increase energy

consumption, so do clean the appliance assoon as the layer is 3-5 mm thick. If the gasket is damaged or if it turns out that

the sealing is poor, the energy consumption

is substantially higher. To restore efficiency, replace the gasket.

The condenser on the rear wall shouldbealways clean, free of dust or anyimpurities.

    Always consider instructions stated in

sections Positioning and Energy SavingTips, otherwise the energy consumption issubstantially higher.

Sound alarm reminds you to close the doorimmediately, in order to save energy.

Important If you've bought this appliance to replace an

old one equipped with a lock that cannot beopened from inside (lock, bolt), make surethat the lock is broken. This will make itimpossible for the children to lockthemselves in the appliance and suffocate.

Mind to connect the appliance correctly tothe mains supply (see Connection to theMains Supply).

Do not touch the cooled surfaces while theappliance operates, especially not with wethands, because the skin might stick to thecold surfaces.

Do not freeze bottled drinks, especially notfizzy ones such as mineral water, sparklingwine, beer, cola etc., because liquid expandsduring freezing and the glass bottle is verylikely to blow up.

Never try to eat frozen food (bread, fruit, vegetables), because you may get frostbites.

Carefully check the foods for color and smelland if you are in doubt about their quality, throw them away because they may bespoiled and therefore dangerous to eat.

Disconnect the appliance from the mainsbefore repairing (only a qualified technicianshould repair it) and before cleaning.

Do not defrost the appliance with otherelectric devices (hair dryer etc.) and neverscrape the ice or frost layer with sharp tools.Use only enclosed tools or toolsrecommended by the manufacturer.

For the sake of environment protection - becareful not to damage the rear wall of theappliance (the condenser unit or the tubes -for example when moving the appliance) or

any part of the refrigerating system inside theappliance.

The refrigerating system of the appliance isfilled with refrigerant and oil, so when the

appliance is damaged, handle it with careand dispose it of in compliance withenvironmental protecting precautions. (SeeWe Care for the Environment).

Heating element incorporated in theappliance, all around the rim, is controlled bythe operation of the compressor and itprevents the door gasket to freeze on to thefreezer housing.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must bereplaced by the manufacturer or his serviceagent or a qualified person in order to avoidhazard.

The rating plate is in the interior or on therear wall of the appliance.

The symbol on the product or on itspackaging indicates that this productmay not be treated as householdwaste. Instead it shall be handed over

    ON/OFF Switch (1)

The appliance is switched on - the greenlight is on.The appliance is switched off - the greenlight is off.

    Operation Mode Selection Switch(2)

This switch is used to select one of the twooperation modes: continuous andautomatic.

Continuous operation - the yellow light ison. The cooling system operates continuously. This mode is selected when you want tofreeze large amounts of fresh foods and in

case you want to deep freeze already frozenfoods.

Automatic operation - the yellow light isoff. The interior temperature is controlled by thethermostat which turns the cooling systemon and off.The frequency of switching the coolingsystem on and off depends on:

    the thermostat knob position

(thermostat setting), how often you open the door; and ambient temperature.

Sound alarm button, red light (3)

Sound alarm is triggered and red light is onif the freezer compartment is not undercorrect temperature (see section"Troubleshooting guide").Alarm is triggered also when the doorremains open for some time. It may bestopped by closing the door.

    Temperature Selection (4)

When the freezer operates automatically, the interior temperature is controlled by thethermostat. The most suitable thermostatposition is in the middle between max (7)and min (1) . We recommend setting thethermostat on positions towards max (7)only in case you want to accelerate cooling,

as for example before loading smalleramounts of fresh foods or when theoperation mode shall correspond to theambient temperature. Thermostat settingstowards min (1) help you save energyprovided that the freezer is loaded withsmaller amount of frozen foods.Changes of the ambient temperature affectstemperature in the interior of the appliance.Choose correct setting of the thermostatknob.

    External Temperature Meter (5)

The meter shows approximate temperaturein the interior of the freezer. The most

    6/9

    Instructions for Use 7

convenient temperature for long termstoring of frozen foods is -18C or colder.Optimum storage conditions depend on thethermostat setting, ambient temperature, how loaded the appliance is and how oftenyou open the door.Don't forget, temperature changes are noted

on the meter some 48 hours after thethermostat position was changed.

UseSwitching On the Empty FreezerSwitch the freezer on. Sound alarm is onbecause of inappropriate temperature. It maybe switched off by pressing the alarm button

. Put the mode selection switch to thecontinuous operation position. All three signal

lamps are on. Place fresh food into the freezerseveral hours after the red signal lamp goesoff.

    Freezing Fresh Foods

Proper use of the appliance, adequatelypacked food, correct temperature and takinginto account hygienic precautions willsubstantially influence the quality of freezingthe food or storing of the frozen foodstuffs. Carefully select food to be frozen: it should

be of adequate quality and suitable forfreezing.

Choose correct packaging for each kind offood and pack it correctly.

The packaging should be air tight andwell sealed without leaking since thiscould cause substantial vitamin lossand dehydration.

Foils and bags should be soft enough totightly wrap around the food.

Mark packages with following data: kind andamount of foods and the date of loading.

It is most important that the food is frozen asquickly as possible. We thereforerecommend the size of the package not tobe too large and to be cooled before loadinginto the freezer.

The amount of the fresh foods that can beloaded in the freezer within 24 hours isstated on the rating plate. If the loadedamount is too large, the quality of freezing isreduced which affects the quality of frozen

    foods.

Freezing ProcedureFreezing compartment is used for freezingfoodstuffs (see chapter "Description of theAppliance"). If you want to freeze larger amount of fresh

food, set the operation mode selectionswitch to the position for continuousoperation (yellow light is on). After 24 hoursyou can load the freezing compartment withpackages of fresh foods.

24 hours after the food was loaded, thefrozen packages can be stored into basketsand the freezer can be loaded with newpackages of fresh foods. Don't let the freshpackages touch the frozen ones.

Some 24 hours after the last load, set theswitch to the position for automatic operation(yellow light is off).

There is no need to set the switch to theposition for continuous operation if youintend to freeze smaller amount of freshfoods (1-2 kg).

    Storing Frozen Foods

Packages of frozen foods are stored inbaskets. If you remove the baskets, you canstore frozen packages directly on the coolingshelves.

Storing Commercially Frozen FoodsThe storage time and recommendedtemperature for storing commercially frozenfoods is indicated on the packaging. For storingand use consider manufacturer's instruction. When shopping, be careful and choose onlypackages of foods which are adequatelypacked and provided with complete data andstored in freezers where the temperature is nothigher than -18C. Do not buy packages offood wrapped with frost. This indicates that thepackage was thawed before at least once.Take care that packages don't start to thaw.Temperature rise shortens the storage time ofcommercially frozen foods.

    Defrosting of Frozen Food

Partially thawed or defrosted foods should beused as soon as possible. Cold air preservesthe food but it does not destroy

microorganisms which rapidly activatethemselves after defrosting and make foodsperishable. Partial defrosting reduces thenutritional value of foods, especially of fruits, vegetables and ready-made meals.

    Maintenance and CleaningFreezer Defrosting

Frost and ice layer, depositing on the innerwalls of the freezer should be defrosted when3-5 mm thick. 24 hours before defrosting set the switch to

continuous operation (the yellow light is on)so that the food packages are well cooled. After that empty the freezer and take carethat the packages don't start to thaw.

Disconnect the appliance from the mainssupply.

Insert the enclosed pipe into the groove inthe bottom of the appliance and place avessel underneath to collect the defrostwater. Defrosting is accelerated if the door isleft open.

Avoid using defrosting sprays, as they maycause damage to the plastic parts and maybe hazardous to health.

    Cleaning the Appliance

Before cleaning the appliance disconnectthe cable from the mains supply. Do not useabrasive cleaning agents.Be careful to remove any cleanser agentremaining after cleaning. Clean the exterior of the appliances with

water and liquid detergent. Varnishedsurfaces are cleaned with soft cloth and analcohol based cleaning agent (for exampleglass cleaners). You may also use alcohol

(ethanol or isoprophylic alcohol). Theapplication of abrasive and speciallyaggressive cleaners, such as the stainlesssteel cleaners, is not appropriate for thecleaning of plastic and coated parts.

Wash the interior with lukewarm water andsome vinegar.

From time to time wipe the condenser onthe rear wall with a soft non-metal brush orvacuum cleaner.

Sound alarm button, The Red Light is On The door was frequently opened or it was left

opened for too long. The door is not properly closed (the door

may sag, the gasket may be polluted ordamaged).

Power supply has been interrupted for alonger period of time. Perhaps you have overloaded the appliance

    with fresh foods.

To stop the sound alarm press the alarmbutton .Red light goes off when themalfunctions are removed and the temperaturewithin the appliance reaches the appropriatelylow level (depending upon the thermostatsetting).

Continuous Operation of the CoolingSystem Set the operation mode selection switch

from continuous to automatic operation. The reason may be inadequate ventilation of

the compressor and condenser (assureadequate air circulation behind the applianceand wipe the dust from the condenser).

The Door is Hard to OpenIf you want to open the door that has just orrecently been closed, you may find it hard toopen. The reason why this happens is, thatwhen you open the door, warm air gets into theappliance and when it is cooling, theunderpressure seals the door. After fewminutes (5-10), the door can easily be opened.

NoiseCooling in refrigerating-freezing appliances isenabled by the cooling system withcompressor, which produces noise. How noisythe appliance is depends on where it is placed, how it is used and how old the appliance is.

During the operation of the compressor thenoise of liquid is heard and when thecompressor is not operating, the refrigerantflow is heard. This is a normal condition andit has no influence whatsoever on thelifetime of the appliance.

After starting the appliance, the operationof the compressor and the refrigerant flowmay be louder, which does not mean thatsomething is wrong with the appliance and ithas no influence on the lifetime of theappliance. Gradually the noise is reduced.

Sometimes unusual and stronger noise isheard, which is rather unusual for theappliance. This noise is often aconsequence of inadequate placing. (Theappliance shall be placed and levelled firmlyon solid base and it should not touch the wallor kitchen units standing next to it.)

Bulb Replacement(models with interior illumination only)Before replacing the light bulb, disconnect theappliance form the power supply.Remove the plastic cover with the screwdriverand replace the bulb with a new one (E14,max. 15 W). Don't forget: the old bulb does notbelong to organic waste.Light bulb is consumning good thereforeour in-guarantee service does not relate toit.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER THE SPECIFICATIONS WITH NOINFLUENCE ON THE OPERATION OF THE APPLIANCE .
