DESCRIPTION

The very first Issue of Gospel Unplugged's Volume One Series.

TRANSCRIPT

Gospel music has touched the hearts of many for years. The gospel music industry is blessed to have many seasoned artists who have made names for themselves such as Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond and have changed the lives of countless people. While these people have a name that rings bells in the gospel music industry, how many of you have heard the names of people like Donald Romain, A-Minor Musik, and Ijeal Joseph? Not nearly the same number as those who have heard of the seasoned artists.

Thankfully, Terrence C. Charles Jr. realized that there was a huge gap between up and coming

artists and artists that have made themselves known in the industry, and God gave him the desire to make a difference! In November of 2009, Terrence sat at a table with 6 other people who were passionate about this very same issue, and it was then that “Gospel Unplugged” was formed. Gospel Unplugged is a concert series that allow different up and coming artists, who are truly on fire for God, to minister in song and explain the significance of each song and what God brought them through while climbing the ladder of success in the gospel industry. Each concert will be a platform for artists to share with their fans how they arrived at their current status in ministry and where they

feel God will place them in the future.

Gospel Unplugged is now proud to announce that our first concert will be held on Sunday, April 18th and will be featuring gospel’s newest sensation, Danielle Lewis. Join us at Crash Mansion (located on 199 Bowery) for the release of Danielle Lewis’ highly anticipated album! Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $7 for groups of 10 or more and can be purchased by emailing [email protected].

We look forward to you all coming out and supporting Gospel Unplugged as we help enhance the Kingdom of God, one artist at a time.

It’s pitch black. There are at least 150 people seated in anticipation. Suddenly, a bright strobe light begins to flicker and down the aisle runs the person the crowd has been

waiting for all night: Ijeal Joseph.

Ijeal Joseph, a native of the island Grenada, has been working on his own music for years and Saturday, February 6th, 2010 was the night that he presented it: lyrics from the heart and island inspired rhythms

had the crowd going wild with

song and dance. Having already been ushered into the presence of God by the dynamic Praise and Worship from H4G (Hungry 4 God) and other artists, including but not limited to Coral Williamson, Janice Charles, Donald Romain, and Eddie Neblitt, the crowd was ready to continue praising God.

Hands flew up giving God glory, thoroughly being able to relate to the words of Ijeal’s songs.

Everyone left spiritually full and happy to have had such a powerful encounter with God through the music that God led Ijeal to write.

Be on the lookout for more of Ijeal Joseph!

Many of our old time pioneers who fought for freedom as African Americans, have left such a stamp on our present. Because of this we honor them in a special way celebrating and exposing their legacies. On Saturday, February 13, 2010, St Catherine’s Church housed a concert put on by a Christian youth group HYPE. This group is also known as Helping Young People Elevate. Having

an awareness ceremony brought enlightment and understanding to our own culture. The ceremony included a skit, praise dancers, icebreakers for the audience and musical artists such as Courtney Starks (CEO of HYPE) and yours truly. The ceremony was a huge success and it brought awareness to the community about Black History Month and the Christian aspect of it all.
