Fastening scheme of OM 16 coupling to the hose

The breakaway rotary-axial coupling OM.16.0, OM.16.1 is a reusable self-sealing coupling designed to protect the fuel dispenser, hose connection and vehicle from damage caused when the vehicle drives away from the fuel-filling station with the fuel-dispensing nozzle in the tank.The OM 16 coupling is a nozzle break type coupling and is attached directly to the fuel dispenser ZVA or ZVA 2.Before delivery, each OM.16 coupling is tested for rupture and tightness at pressure 5.25.bar in accordance with GOST R EN 13617-2-2012.The coupling breaks at the application of pulling force from 80 kg to 150 kg, both along the axis and at the angles most often encountered in practice.

Use of rotary breakaway coupling OM 16

Before installation, it is necessary to determine whether the fuel dispenser design and the resistance of the hose correspond to the tensile strength exceeding the maximum coupling breaking force applied in all possible directions of departure.

Rotary-axial coupling ensures the 360° rotation of the filling hose during operation.

A valve built into the breaking part stops the flow of fuel from the hose. In accordance with safety standards, no more than 120 ml of fuel may leak.After the break, the OM.16 coupling must be assembled by an authorized service engineer in accordance with the manual (see below) and then, after a leak test, the coupling can be used again.The design of the coupling is such that during the assembly process the liquid does not splash out.

The fastening of the rotary breakaway coupling to the fuel hose has a convenient turning mechanism with the possibility of full rotation for 360 degrees in relation to the attachment axis.

Fastening the indicator tip EK145 on the fuel nozzle

When assembling the coupling, strictly observe the sequence presented:

1. Disconnect the fuel dispenser. Relieve the pressure in the hose.2. Disconnect the fuel-dispensing nozzle from the hose connection and drain the fuel from the hose.3. Remove the rotary coupling installed on the fuel-dispensing nozzle.4. Push the protective cap from the rotary coupling to the bending protection cap.5. Slightly lubricate the threads and screw the coupling, complete with mesh strainer, into the fuel dispenser.6. Grease the threads and screw the coupling onto the hose connection.7. Start the fuel dispenser and carefully check the tightness ofthe connections.8. Put on a protective cap on the coupling until the tabs snap into the slots.

Installation manual SpecificationIf the coupling has already been installed on the fuel-dispensing nozzle ex works, the assembly on the hose is carried out as described above.

Assembly after breakawayHigh-quality assembly can be performed only by authorized service engineers, who must perform testing and verification of fuel dispenser connections, fastening of the fuel-dispensing nozzle for possible damage.Then the operation of the entire system shall be pressure tested, before it is put back into operation.

The standard indicator tip EK145 with a diameter of 40 mm is attached to the body of the fuel nozzle with toothed locks on both sides, which guarantees fastening on the body without shifting in relation to the design of the ZVA fuel nozzle.This allows you to securely store the fuel mark for the entire period of active operation of the indicator tip EK145.

When assembling the coupling, strictly observe the sequence presented:1. Disconnect the fuel dispenser. Relieve the pressure inthe hose.2. Push the protective cap from the rotary coupling to thebending protection cap.3. Unscrew the coupling housing from the fuel-dispensingnozzle and the breaking part from the hose. Drain the fuel hose.4. Clean all coupling parts and inspect for damage causedby breakaway, such as out-of-roundness or other types of deformation, or broken plastic parts.In case of such damage, the safety breakaway coupling cannot be reused. Delivery of spare parts to the coupling, with the exception of the gasket, is not provided.5. Slightly grease all the metal sliding surfaces of thecoupling housing, the slot under the retaining spring, and the gaskets.6. Holding the coupling housing in a vertical position, centerthe locking spring manually.Carefully, insert the breaking part into the housing with the top first. Both parts must be on the same axis.7. Put together the base ends of the parts and squeezethem together using a vice. Ensure that the parts remain on the same axis until they click into place, which can be determined by a click.8. The assembly force must be applied in 2 steps. In caseof significant resistance, you must stop and restart from step 6.Then install an OM.16 coupling between the fuel-dispensing nozzle and the hose connection, as described above, and check the connection for tightness.
