Got my sandstone ocean reef sized, scratched and got insulted, all in one trip
I took my new ocean reef goldtone sandstone in to get sized. I took it to where I always to
my watches sized even I don't like the place. They carry tags and rolex's, so they have an
attitude, but they have a good watch man or at least I thought they did. They sized it, I paid them and left, when I got to my car I checked it to make sure they didn't sctatch it ( a
habit I have ) sure enough one link had a scratch and the clasp had a gauge in it. I took it
back in and the guy told me that happens sometimes and I would probably be getting
scratches on it myself. He then told me invicta pins are hard to get out and I should just send it in to invicta to get it sized. I told him I would not be back, would tell everyone I
know about what happened and I might see them in small claims court. I will say this about
invicta's gold plating, it is everything they say it is. Even with the scratches and gauge all I
see is gold. As far as their tags and rolex's, if I want an overpriced watch that has that 1970's look I might consider one!

That's why I bought the Invicta toolkit! Can size it yourself without dealing with snotty
businessmen. Toolkit pays for itself after you size like 2 watches so it's worth the
investment.

Always sorry to hear stories like this. There are some good jewelers out there, doesn't sound
like you found one. You might be able to replace the link that's scratched with one that was
taken out. I'm afraid your pretty much stuck with the clasp damage.
Let me second that idea of picking up your own watch tool kit. It's really a simple process, and all the information you need can be found here on the forum. Good luck, and if you have
issues PM me and I'll walk you through the sizing process.

You should ask the sales person to look at one of their nice time pieces and then "accidentally" drop it on the floor and say" Oops sometimes that happens".And then walk
out.

Sorry to hear about that. I guess that is why some around hear won't size them anymore since don't want to be responsible for a watch that they did not sell

I'm surprised they didn't offer to buff it out. Jewelers clean and buff jewelry and watches all the time.

So... they didn't even say sorry? They just blamed their poor service on Invicta?!?!
Are you kidding me?!?!
I can size the Ocean Reefs and not put any scratches in it. And, I'm not a trained pro,
nor do I have expensive tools!!
They owe you something!! If you have the time, I'd follow through with the small claims
court. If nothing else, it "puts them out"!
Sorry this happened to you. Definately get the kit. YOU care about YOUR watches and won't
let that crud happen!!

I am sorry to hear that this happened to you. I am fortunate to have an outstanding jeweler
just 5 minutes from my house, and he buffs my watches for free and sizes them for $8.00.
So far, no dings or scratches.

Find a new Jeweler. I have a great one that is also a client. I have had Invicta's, zodiacs and
Swiss Legends sized by him and he has had nothing but positive things to say. He sells really
nice preowned IWC, Patek, Tiffany, Paneria and Rolexes. I bought my wife's rolex datejust
from him and have both my Rolexes serviced by him. I guess he could be a snob about watches, but he is not. Any good businessman would treat all customers respectfully. By the
way he charges 5 dollars to size a watch.

Sized, scratched and insuled sounds like a hat trick from a bad jeweler. Am I wrong or
doesn't this Reserve Pro Diver have screws in the bracelet instead of "pins" as the jeweler
stated???? __________________

Sorry to hear, but I would recommend in the future getting a tool kit, it may seem intimidating at first... but the Ocean Reef isn't that difficult to size. Only takes a few minutes,
hope you give it a try yourself next time. Time to bond with all your future watches. Most of
your new watches can be on your wrist within minutes of opening. Best of luck.

This is an absolute horrid story to hear about! IMO, this is unacceptable!! I would have
demanded my money back if he charged me and then some!
You should invest in a toolkit and learn to size them yourself. This will at least save you time
and money. Especially from businesses that practice customer service like you received.

This is the best way to go. Just take your time on the first one you do. If you get stuck in
some way there are plenty of people here that can help you. Also I'd ask for some input on a
tool kit from some of the guys here. The Invicta kit is a good place to start. Later on you might want to get better tools, but that is later on. Sorry to hear of your bad experience.
Now you can do it yourself and save the money for a new watch.

Sorry to hear about your problem, you would be better off learning to do this yourself, invest in a decent tool kit and practice on an old watch.Take your time and even if you should put a
few scratches in your watch at least your not paying a so called professional to do it.In the
end once you get the hang of it you will save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and the
tools will pay for themselves.

Sorry to hear about how in today's economy business people treat customers. I recently
moved so I used a new repair guy in the mall who only charged $10 for sizing, I took my
Invicta Diver 7750 and there's a new lady behind the counter. She stated it would be $20 because my band was "a pain in the ass to size". I told my watch back, went one level down
and was charged only $8. Some people are penny wise and dollar stupid. Love your quote
about the overpriced 1970s look....LOL

I feel for you! I've had that happen with my original Invicta Scooby 3076 which I had
foolishly paid full price for when Shop debuted them ($495.00 - I was a greenhorn). I had it sized and when I found a loose pin I turned around and went back to the jeweler. His 16
year old assistant "corrected it" by tapping it with a steel hammer and thus scratching the
link severely! I told the kid that it wasn't acceptable and I asked for the owner expecting
professionalism. The jeweler tells me "Who cares about that! It's an Invicta! Invictas are just plated brass Chinese junk!"
Bad move! I have an Irish temperment and I wasted no time telling him off and I basically
left him fearing dark parking garages!
(scumbag!)

They call themselves jewelers!
I had similar problem with my first Ocean Reef (have 5).
TWO "Jewelers" high end both could not size it... banged up the links. Just don't know how
to do the pin and collar.... Finally, a geek steeped up and I sent it to him to size and he walked me thought what he
did... 5 min. job.
Get some good tools and do it yourself. They can stick their $20 fee and pompus attitude.
AND the comment -- you would scratch it anyway... they should just say no. So try on a
Rolex and mark it up... see if they have the same attitude (don't do that). I wanted to go back to both jewelers and show them how to do it for the future... URRRRRR.
ENJOY THE WATCH.... OCEAN REEF's are my favorites....
Part of the Geek learning curve is learn how to do the easy yourself... buy more watches
with the $$ you save on sizing.
Here is a good post on how to size... same for Ocean Reef or any pin and collar.... Good
Luck.

So, you are saying that they have an attitude because they carry
"tags and rolex's", or could it be that they have an attitude because
they simply don't value their customers and have no true merchant's
ethics and values? I'd bet is not the "tags and rolex's".
Like someone else already recommended, get a nice watch bracelet
change kit. You probably collect watches, so it'd be a good
investment. I have to admit, though, some Invictas have some
difficult friction pins. But, hey, at least the watch is secure.

this sounds about right.....
next time go in with one of your large Invictas on and lean rather hard and abruptly on the
glass counter and see if it breaks...then tell them, these damn Invitas, they're just too damn
heavy... __________________

i must have had a rough life! life's trials, tribulations and tragedies have taught me to
choose my battles. while i wouldn't have exactly kissed the jeweler on the lips i certainly
wouldn't have reacted with the venom (pardon the pun) suggested by some of the posts. i would have asked for a remedy to correct the sloppy job and if no attempt was made to help
me i would simply have told the jeweler that he just lost a customer. i'm surprised no one
suggested lynching the jeweler at the town square! a scratched bracelet is simply not worth
this amount of negative energy.

Ya, a good sizing kit can be had for as little as $10 shipped and you get the satisfaction of
being as careful with the watch as you want.

YOU care about YOUR watches and
won't let that crud happen!!
i do mind myself and im not a pro,,and no scratches,,,invicta tool kit is the way to go

paid them and left, when I got to my car I checked it to make sure they didn't sctatch it ( a
habit I have ) sure enough one link had a scratch and the clasp had a gauge in it. I took it
back in and the guy told me that happens sometimes and I would probably be getting scratches on it myself. He then told me invicta pins are hard to get out and I should just
send it in to invicta to get it sized. I told him I would not be back, would tell everyone I
know about what happened and I might see them in small claims court. I will say this
about invicta's gold plating, it is everything they say it is. Even with the scratches and
gauge all I see is gold. As far as their tags and rolex's, if I want an overpriced watch that has that 1970's look I might consider one!
That's disgraceful behavior from a store. Does your receipt state that they are not
responsible for scratches?

That's ridiculous. The reason why you took it there was so it wouldn't get scratched by
yourself or other non-professionals. I had a situation like in the past as well. I size my own stuff since that time, and I've gotten very good at it. You should have gotten your $ back.

Get a kit. You will be glad you did and you won't have to put up with the one stop shopping

The folks at the Dakota watch kiosk have sized over a dozen Invictas for me. Only certain
employees are allowed to work on Invictas because they're categorized as "fine watches".
They do a good job for me and do not act like RICHARD CRANIUMS!

Sorry for your troubles.
Before I got a toolkit, I would have them sized at a local Flea Market right in
front of me for $5. He replaced batteries and bands all day so he was good. I
would not walk into a fancy jeweler, just my humble opinion. __________________

[quote=Magster;1841190]So... they didn't even say sorry? They just blamed their poor

I'm sure this has happened to us all on a few of our watches.
I took my Perrelet in to be sized and when I heard BANG BANG BANG! I knew things were
not going to go well. Instantly in my mind I blamed Perrelet for not simply using screws.
This is probbly one of the reasons why this 4,700 retail watch sells for $650-$850 all day long on eBay. The scratches were not that bad and I switched to a strap. I will pray for the
mans death anyway just as a matter of courtesy, as an attack on my watch is an attack on
me.

Call Invicta CS, (866) INVICTA and advise them of the situation and when you purchased watch. They may even provide a return stamp, ask for Maria Fonseca or Rebecca. They
will assign a case number to the watch. Again, depending on when you purchased, within 30
days, ask for replacement versus repair. Two months less wait period. Good luck and
welcome wo WatchGeeks. I've purcahsed from Sunday Run and had replaced with new watches. Depending on you, there should not be any problems.
