    was born on Abt. 1789 in England [3]. He died on 19 Jul 1862 in Litchfield, NY[1].

    Notes for William B. Butcher:

    The Butcher family came to America on the Ship "Charles" arriving in New York City on October 27,

    1845. The ship departed from Liverpool, Great Britain. In the 1850 Census, Litchfield, William was

    listed as a farmer. His wife Ann lived with him along with sons, Richard and William. Children of

    Census John lived with his parents in Litchfield, NY. In the 1869 directory, he was

    listed as a farmer living in North Litchfield. In the 1870 Census, John was living with

    his brother, Richard, and his family in Cedarville, NY. John lived with Alfred and

    Elizabeth Nibbs in 1880 and was listed as a gentlemen. He was also listed as a

    Obituary - Rome Sentinel - August 24, 1908

    The death of Mary Jones, widow of George H. Butcher, of Willowvale, accurred at the home of her

    son, Charles J. Butcher, in Fulton on Saturday night, after a brief illness. Mrs. Butcher was born in

    Litchfield 76 years ago. For several years she had resided with her son, George W., of Willowvale.

    She is survived by four children: George W. of Willowvale, Charles J. and Mrs. Sarah Berggren of

    Syracuse; two brothers and a sister, Joseph Jones of Sauquoit; Daniel Jones of Washington Mills and

    Miss Harriet Jones of Ogdensburg. The funeral was held from her son's home in Willowvale this

    afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment made in Clayville.

    Buckingham, England[6, 7, 8]. She died on 03 Nov 1891 in Osceola, NY[9, 10]. She married Alfred

    Nibbs on Abt. 1846, son of William Knibbs and Mary F. Nibbs. He was born on Oct 1820 inEngland[7, 8]. He died on 18 May 1891 in Osceola, NY[23].

    The birth and baptismal dates are listed as the same. Obviously they are not, but close. The

    death certificate for Elizabeth says she had been ill for 8 days and died of Acute

    Gastritis and Acute Lobus Pneumonia at 2:30 p.m. Her death certificate said she came to this

    country 45 years ago. That would mean she came to America in 1846 at age 21.

    Notes for Alfred Nibbs:

    Alfred's death certificate said he died at 1:00 p.m. of Typhoid Pneumonia and chronic cuturrlhal

    cystitis.

    The 1850 Census Herkimer Co. showed the family living in Litchfield. The 1860 Census Frankfort,

    Herkimer, Co., Showed Susan Butcher living with them. Her age 10 months. 1865 Town of Litchfield

    Census says Alfred was a farmer and his brother-in-law William Butcher and his daughter Ada S.Butcher was living with them. The 1870 Census for the Town of Kirkland showed this family living in

    Clinton, NY. He was a naturalized citizen and owned land. 1880 Lewis Co., Town of Osceola,

    showed a brother-in-law living with him by the name of John Butcher, born in England and occupation

    - gentlemen. Age 52. Also living with them was Lorenzo Penney age 50, listed as "other". In the

    Rome Daily Sentinel, May 19th 1891, a notice that Alfred Nibbs from Osceola, NY was ailing with

    typhoid pneumonia. His son Alfred Nibbs, Jr. came from Clinton, NY to visit. His death certificate

    revealed that he had come to this country 40 years prior to his death. That would mean he came to

    America in 1851at age 31. However he was listed in the 1850 census in Herkimer County. He was

    retired at the time of his death.

    Herkimer - February 13, 1919 - Late this afternoon occurred the death of

    Mrs. William Rowell at her home on Renwick Ave. Death followed a longillness.

    Death certificate #12940

    Obituary - Herkimer Telegram February 14, 1919At the home on Renwick Avenue, yesterday afternoon, Mrs. William Rowell

    laid down the cross of long suffering under a complicated ailment and

    entered into rest. She had borne her prolonged illness with patience and

    fortitude, dearing to live for those she loved but with faith in the larger

    hope, that shines beyond the grave as it should be her lot to pass the

    portal of another life. She was a true wife and good neighbor and friend,quiet unassuming and devoted to her

    home. Her maiden name was Eda L. Nibbs and she was born at Frankfort

    Hill being in the 58th years of her age. She was united in marriage January

    28, 1892, to the bereaved husband her partner of more that a quartercentury whose care and solitude have constantly smoothed her decline.

    Herkimer has been their home for the past twenty five years and here they

    have made many warm friends whose sincere sympathy is extended in this

    sorrow. Besides the husband there survive two sisters and a brother,

    namely Mrs. Augustus Pratt of Utica, Mrs. Peter Casler of Deansboro and

    Alfred W. Nibbs of this village. The funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m.

    Monday and will be private. Rev. Arthur Moody of the Mohawk M.E. Church

    will officiate and the remains will be taken to Camden, NY for interment.

    4. William G. Butcher-2(Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on 09 Apr 1826 in Preston Bisset,

    Buckingham, England[6]. He died on 26 Aug 1905 in Utica, NY[11, 12]. He married Nancy Butcher.

    She was born on 1835 in New York State [20]. She died on 25 Nov 1896 in Willard State Hospital,

    Willard New York[9].

    Notes for William G. Butcher:

    The birth and baptismal dates are the same. Obviously this is not right, but close. William lived with

    his parents in the 1860 Litchfield Census. William lived with his sister's family in the 1865 census,

    Town of Litchfield along with his daughter Ada S. Butcher. No wife was mentioned. In the 1869

    Oneida County directory, William lived in Washington Mills and was listed as a farmer with 13 acres

    of Land. In the 1870 New Hartford Census, William was listed with a wife, Nancy (insane) and

    daughter. They lived next door to his brother George and his family. His occupation was carpenter.

    Obituary - Rome Sentinel, August 28, 1905

    The death of William G. Butcher, formerly of this place, occurred in Utica on Saturday as a result of

    an illness of three years or more. Mr. Butcher was in his 76th year and was a native of England. Hecame to America in 1845 and for some time resided in Litchfield. Twenty five years ago he came to

    Chadwicks where he long made his home. He was a carpenter by trade, but owing to ill health, had

    not worked at it for some time. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ada Johnson of this place and a brother,

    Richard Butcher of North Litchfield. He was a man of excellent character and was highly respected

    by all who knew him. Owing to his poor health he had for a good while lived in somewhat retired life.

    5. Richard James Butcher-2(Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on 07 Nov 1831 in Buckinghamshire,England[1]. He died on 16 Sep 1910 in Herkimer, NY[9, 11, 15]. He married Mary E. Jones Butcher on

    17 Jan 1865 in Sauquoit, NY[11], daughter of Thomas G. Jones and Gwen Griffith Jones. She was

    Generation 36. George W. Butcher-3(George H. Butcher-2, Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on 1853 in New

    York State. He married Sarah J. Butcher. She was born on 1854 in New York State [38].

    In the 1869 Oneida County Directory, George was listed in Washington Mills on 20 acreas of land. In

    the 1870 and 1880 New Hartford Census, George W. was listed as a carpenter. In the 1920 Census,

    George and Sarah lived in New Hartford. In the 1930 Census, George lived in Willowvale, New York.

    Sarah was not mentioned, however, it said he was married. He had a housekeeper by the name of

    Jennie Howe. In 1938, George lived in Painsville, Ohio.

    J. Raynord moved to Chadwicks with his parents as a young boy. He was a safety

    engineer with the Willowvale Bleachery Co. until retiring in 1952. He was a member

    of the Willowvale Methodist Church, Sauquoit Lodge, F&AM and helder of thelodges's 50 year pin. He was a charter member of the Sauquoit Valley Chamber of

    Commerce and its secretary for 25 years.

    7. Charles J. Butcher-3(George H. Butcher-2, Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on 01 Nov 1855 in

    North Litchfield, NY[17, 18]. He died on Nov 1934 in Rome, NY[17]. He married Elizabeth Jones

    Butcher, daughter of John Jones and Margaret Jones. She was born on Mar 1863 in Herkimer Co.,

    NY[17, 41]. She died on Bef. 1908. He married Laura Butcher on 1908 [17]. She was born on 1867 in

    New York State[17]. She died on Bet. 1910-1920[17].

    Notes for Charles J. Butcher:Lived in Syracuse in 1908 and in Oswego, NY in 1920 per Oswego Census. He lived alone at that

    time. Charles had spent about 41 years in Fulton, NY before moving to Kirkand several years ago.

    The obituary was in the Utica paper Nov 20, 1934.

    Grace had been a former Palladium-Times correspondent. She had no children.

    8. Sarah Butcher Berggen-3(George H. Butcher-2, Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on Apr 1863 in

    New York State[21]. She married Fayette Berggen on 1882[22].

    Notes for Sarah Butcher Berggen:

    Lived in Syracuse in 1908. In the 1910 Syracuse census, Sarah was listed as the head of the

    household and her niece, Grace Butcher was living with her. They were both doing novelty art work.

    This census showed that Sarah had had one child, but it was no longer living. In the 1900 Census,

    Sarah was a widow, but her child was alive. Sarah was working as a laundress. I believe Sarah was

    divorced as I have a divorce announcement. Her husband got custody of their son. Child of Sarah

    Butcher Berggen and Fayette Berggen is:

    9. Anna E. Nibbs Pratt-3(Elizabeth Butcher Nibbs-2, Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on 07 Aug

    1847 in Town of Litchfield, NY[7, 24]. She died on 17 Feb 1925 in Herkimer, NY[11, 25]. She married

    AUGUSTUS MASON PRATT on 1873, son of MASON PRATT and Prudence(Jennie) Overaker(Lovejoy) Pratt. He was born on 19 Jan 1851 in Lowell, NY[11, 45]. He died on 22 Aug 1925 in

    Herkimer, NY[11, 46].

    Notes for Anna E. Nibbs Pratt:

    Birth record on Anna said she was born Elizabeth A. Nibbs. She lived at 209 Harter Street, Herkimer,

    NY at time of death and had lived in Herkimer for five years. She had lived in New Hartford before

    that. She was a member of the First M.E. Church. Death certificate said she died of intestinal

    obstruction caused by appendical abscess. 1900 Utica Census 8th Ward said she had

    7 children - all living.

    Notes for AUGUSTUS MASON PRATT:Death certificate said he was born in 1851. 1850 census said he was 6 months old. Death certificate

    said he died of a cerebral hemorrhage. The 1870 Census of the Town of Kirkland page 77 showed

    Augustus Pratt living with the Nibbs family and that his occupation was a carpenter.His age at this time was 21. The 1880 Census place Augustus and his family in Osceloa. The

    1891 thru 1893 Utica Directories have him living in Utica. The 1900 Utica Census 8th Ward

    showed him living in Utica. 1915 New Hartford Census found him living at 8 Meeker Ave.

    According to his obituary he lived in New Hartford, Utica and then moved to Herkimer in 1920.

    Employed by Standard Furniture Co. and Harrocks Desk Co. He was a master carpenter and a

    member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union. He was a member of the Baptist church.Children of Anna E. Nibbs Pratt and AUGUSTUS MASON PRATT are:

    i. ALFRED MASON PRATT, B: 06 Mar 1871 in Osceola, NY[11, 47], D: 21 Dec 1956 in

    Utica, NY[11, 48], M: 11 Apr 1892 in Utica, NY[49].

    Notes for ALFRED MASON PRATT: Mr. Pratt

    died in his home after a long illness.

    Alfred was born in Osceola, NY. He moved to Camden and went to school in

    Camden. He moved to Utica after his marriage. He worked in the OneidaKnitting Mills, then opened a grocery store on the corner of Rutger St. and

    Third Ave. in Utica, NY. After that he opened the North Utica Gas Station.

    He was a member of Calvery Episcopal Church and a former member of the

    Men's Club of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Above information taken from

    obituary.

    The story has been told that he lost his right arm, below the elbow, in

    an industrial accident at a knitting mill. He had an artificial arm.

    ii. Minnie C. Pratt Newland, B: 03 Apr 1875 in Clinton, New York [11, 50], D: 21 Mar

    1951 in Vernon, NY[51], M: 1907 in ??[52].

    Notes for Minnie C. Pratt Newland:

    After her marriage, Minnie and Charles lived in Hecla where Mr. Newland operated

    a grist mill. They had lived in Vernon for the past several years. Minnie belonged tothe Methodist Church.

    iii. Arthur W. Pratt, B: 18 Jan 1876 in Clinton, New York[8, 53, 54, 55], D: 25 Jan 1959 in

    1124 Hilton Ave., Utica, NY[54, 55, 56], M: 13 Apr 1910 in ??.

    Notes for Arthur W. Pratt:

    Arthur lived in Utica in 1925 at 1124 Hilton Ave. He was alive in 1934. The 1910

    Utica Census, ward 8, said he lived on Nicholas Street and worked as a foreman in

    the knitting mill. Arthur was a Methodist. His divorce to Anna Miller was finalized in

    1909.

    iv. Ernest Edward Pratt, B: 19 Nov 1876 in Camden, NY[11, 57, 58], D: 07 Feb 1934 in

    Faxton Hospital, Utica, NY[11], M: 1901 in Utica, NY.

    Notes for Ernest Edward Pratt:

    Ernest lived in Utica in 1925 at 1159 McQuade Ave. and at the time of his

    death. He was educated in Camden, NY and came to Utica as a young man

    where he had since resided. He was last employed by the Kingston Dress

    Company, Mohawk. He was a cutter by trade. He was a member of St.Agnes Church. In the 1910 Census, he lived in the 13th Ward of Utica and

    was a cutter in the knitting mill. He lived in Jefferson

    Ave.

    v. Adelbert Pratt, B: 17 Mar 1878 in Osceola, NY[57, 59, 60], D: 11 Apr 1954 in Herkimer

    Memorial Hospital, Herkimer, NY[11, 61].

    Notes for Adelbert Pratt:

    1910 Census said he was born in 1878 and the 1915 Census said 1880. The 1915

    Herkimer census says he was a woodworker. He was alive in 1934 living in

    Mohawk. In the 1910 census he lived on Luke Street in the Village of Herkimer. The

    1930 Census showed him living in German Flats.

    Adelbert moved to Herkimer about 1944. He was a cabinet maker and was

    employed by the Standard Furniture Company and Mele Manufacturing Co. He

    was a member of the First Methodist Church of Herkimer.

    vi. Jessie M. Pratt, B: Feb 1883 in Camden, NY[11, 50, 62], D: 24 Sep 1929 in 1639

    Sunset Ave., Utica, NY[11].

    and worked at a knitting mill. She was a member of Centenary

    Methodist Church and took great interest in the affairs of the church.vii. Charles Franklin Pratt, B: 30 Jul 1884 in New York State [40, 50, 63, 64], D: 05 Aug

    1935 in Utica, NY[54, 65], M: 1906 in Utica, NY.

    Notes for Charles Franklin Pratt:

    Lived in Utica in 1925 at 61 Prospect St and in 1935 at the time of his

    death. The 1910 Utica Census, ward 14, said he lived on West Ave. and

    worked as a stock clerk in a clothing store.

    10. Sarah Caroline Nibbs Williams-3(Elizabeth Butcher Nibbs-2, Anna Gough Butcher-1) was born on8 Mar 1849 in Town of Litchfield, NY[7, 26]. She died on 06 Aug 1911 in Mohawk, NY[11, 27, 28]. She

    married Henry Rosell Williams on 1874. He was born on 1851 in New York State [66]. He died on

    5 Nov 1917 in Utica, NY[11, 27].

    TelegramAugust 7, 1911At her home in Warren Street at 11:46 o'clock Saturday night departed thislife on of Mohawk's most estimable women, Mrs. Sarah Caroline Nibbs, wife

    of Henry R. Williams. Deceased had suffered a stroke of paralysis, and had

    been afflicted with complications being under nurses care for six weeks andfor a long time had been in poor health, bearing her sufferings with great

    fortitude. She was born in the town of Frankfort, being the daughter of Alfred

    Nibbs and Elizabeth Butcher and was in the 63rd year of her age. She was

    united in marriage to Mr. Williams in 1872, having lived in Osceola, Rome,

    West Camden, Herkimer and Mohawk coming to this village several years

    ago. Mr. Williams conducts a bakery and she assisted in the store, and

    gained a wide acquaintance. She was a woman who thought much of her

    home and the blow caused by her death falls heavily upon a family by whom

    Frances' parents born in New York State. She was living in Frankfort

    Hill at the time of her death, but was visiting her sister in Osceola when

    she actually died. In 1888 at the time of her mother's death, she lived
