Hermetically Sealed TypeA Hermetically Sealed Type motor utilizeswindings of standard construction and insu-lation thickness. The windings are encasedand Hermetically Sealed within the externalshell casing on the outside and an internaltube or liner inside the bore. TheHermetically Sealed enclosure eliminates thepossibility of water leakage into the windingthe liquid medium circulates between therotor and stator liner providing lubricationand cooling to the bearings.

Wet Winding TypeA Wet Winding Type motor is one in whichthe motor windings are in direct contactwith a liquid medium. The medium is clean,clear water. A pressure balancing systemprevents exchange of the motor liquid medi-um and well water due to thermal expan-sion and contraction when the motor isoperating. The liquid medium fills the insideof the motor and surrounds both the statorwindings and the rotor. A completely waterproof insulation is used on the magnet wireused for the stator windings. The liquidmedium inside the motor air gap and coilsacts as a heat transfer device by circulatingthrough the windings and transferring heatto the external casing. Dissipation of thisheat occurs as the well water flows at arequired velocity over the external case. Asis the case in all submersible type motors,the internal liquid medium is also used forbearing lubrication.
