THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (HHS)

The Department of Health and Human services (HHS) is the United States

government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and

providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help

themselves. The department includes more than 300 programs, covering various

spectrum activities, to reach out to needy families, elderly, children and much more.

HEALTH CARE REFORM IMPORTANT FACTORS

1. 54,000,00 Americans have coverage for preventative services free of cost

2. 32,000,000 people with Medicare, in 2011, received a free cardiovascular screening

3. 3,600,000 seniors saved 2.1 billion dollars on prescription drugs

4. 3,100,000 young adults have health coverage under their parents

5. 50,000 uninsured people with pre-existing conditions now have coverage in 23 states & the district of Columbia

CONCLUSION

• The U.S. Department of Health and Human service is known for protecting the well-being (health) of all Americans and providing necessary human services, especially for those in low income group and who are unable to assist themselves financially. The HHS have provided many programs to help people with their health such as Medicaid and Medicare programs. Other programs are followed in assisting with food, housing, financial assistance and education.
