38. Development Programmes for Non-Teaching Staff :
Computer Training on Internet Access was given to Non-Teaching
Staff on 16,17,23& 24th April, 2012.
39. Best Practices of the Institution:
The following are the best practices that are practised every year.
(i) Religious Festivals
Major-wise Vilakku Pooja was performed every month in the
college. In addition to this, at the end of the academic year, a Grand
Vilakku Pooja was performed by the outgoing students, which enabled to
inculcate “Bakthi” in the minds of the youngsters. Important religious
festivals such as “Vinayaka Chathurthi,” “Kolu Pooja” and “Krishna
Jeyanthi” were also celebrated in the college.
(ii) College Union :
Our College Union organized Welcome Party to the new comers
to establish a good relationship among all the students. To exhibit the
hidden talents of freshers a ‘Talent Show’ was also conducted.
ii) Pongal celebration:
‘Pongal Festival’ was celebrated department-wise by all the
students. This festival has given room for the team spirit of the students.
This has nourished self-confidence and responsibility in the minds of the
students. Irrespective of the caste, creed and religion, all the students
joined together for this celebration with a sense of co-operation which
boosted up the “oneness” in their minds.
(i) Youth Welfare:
The Youth Welfare Committee organized and conducted “Youth
Festival Competitions” on 15.09.2011 and 16.09.2011. Nearly 50
competitions were conducted major- wise to bring to light the latent
51
talents of the students. The winners were given prizes in the Union
Valedictory Function.
(v) Yoga class:
To strengthen the physical and mental health of the students, yoga
classes were conducted from 3.30 P.M to 4.30 P.M.
(ii) Daily prayer:
Every day the classes commence with a prayer song.
(vii) National day celebrations:
All the national festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, Teachers
Day, Martyr’s Day etc., were celebrated. The festival like Raksha
Bandan was also celebrated to inculcate the sisterly attitude among the
staff and students.
(viii) Orientation for the I year students:
An orientation programme for the freshers was arranged in order
to help them to shed their fear and to know about the college.
(ix) Value Education:
Every Friday, value education classes were conducted from 9.30
to 10.30 A.M. for all the UG and the PG students every Friday. Guest
lectures were also arranged by the Value Education Committee so as to
shape the students with good manners, to erase unwanted thoughts in the
minds of the students and inculcate good habits in them. At the end of
the year, tests were conducted by the value Education Committee and the
prizes were distributed to the winners in the Union Valedictory function.
(x) Model Interview:
A model interview was conducted for the final year students to
face the Interview Board in real life with courage and self-confidence.
(xi) Educational Tour:
Educational tours were arranged in order to strengthen the
Teacher – Student relationship and also to improve the cordial
relationship among the students.
(xii) Advisory System:
Advisory system is followed in each class. The Adviser is the
God mother who takes complete care of her ward students. The slow
learners are identified, advised and moulded properly. A cumulative
52
record is maintained by the Advisors for each student. The details of each
student are well depicted in the cumulative record.
(xiii) Information Cell:
Information Cell of our college takes a prominent role at the time
of admission. Since our college is located in the rural area, the
information cell guides the parents by giving untiring ‘concrete
counselling’ regarding the selection of the course for their daughters.
