Hello, Spring!

Beautiful Texas weather invites us to enjoy the warm temps and sunshine

that spring delivers, so Hillside Village has lined up a bunch of fun, let’s-get-outside events for you. We’ve got something for everyone this season, from a kids party to a just-for-fun Girls Night Out to an event that appeals to the art and music lover in all of us.

At Hillside, we love offering events that bring us all together as a community. Just like a picnic or backyard barbecue, gathering on the Village Green often involves sharing food and music. We also like to add in a fun twist, such as fitness or art-related activities, to foster a sense of kinship among our neighbors. We’re especially proud of the family-friendly events slated for this spring that allow you to have fun with your kids. We hope our music and art events, in particular, go a long way in helping you create cherished family memories.

I want to particularly point out our wonderful “art bikes” program, where we’ve partnered with some amazingly talented local artists to paint colorful designs on bikes. We’ll be raffling off these unique art bikes on Friday, May 19, with proceeds benefitting a

wonderful nonprofit called Art and Beyond, Inc., an organization dedicated to serving at-risk and economically disadvantaged youth right here in our community. Art and Beyond aims to build a strong foundation for our children’s future success by developing and implementing educational arts programs that foster creative skills and nurture individual creative expression.

From my heart, I believe the Arts are extremely important to the development of children and young adults. When a child is exposed to the arts, it’s reflected in concentration, awareness, listening skills, memory, etc. But it also nurtures their creativity, which makes them stand apart. To quote President Obama, “The future belongs to young people with an education and the imagination to create."

I’m thrilled to give you a sneak peek at what we’ve got in store for you, so check our event details on page 9, then put Hillside Village on your calendar and join us for a spring-full of feel-good fun this season.
