MULTI USE - NULU PUBLIC MARKETPublic Markets are about incorporating historic preservation and community participation to create successful spaces for dining, shopping, and socializing. This mixed-used space would enhance the local economy of the surrounding area and place a focus on community organization. Louisville, has recently been stated as an up and coming city with a booming market for local food with the development of NuLu. Reviatalizing an existing historic structure in Louisville’s downtown area would create a place of entrepreneurhsip. The space would incorporate interior and exterior areas to create a space for users of all demographics and would be a great enhancement to the growth of Louisville.

To create a successful hospital environment, the design must provide a clean and supportive space for all users, it must create a satisfactory work environment that provides high quality care to the clients, and blend touches of the home with the technical must haves of a healthcare space. Studies have shown that hospitals with fractured systems lead to less productivity and more work for the staff. Locating the patient rooms, nursing zones, and operating rooms on the upper levels allows for more privacy for the users. Creating spaces that are all inclusive

for communication between the medical staff while maintaining superior patient care. Implementing universal, acuity adaptable patient

Much research has been done on using technology to also increase productivity and enhance user control of the space. In patient rooms, giving the client control of lighting and using interactive technology to keep the patient and family informed throughout their stay can provide a more comfortable environment for healing. Incorporating communication technologies through out nursing stations and other work zones will increase the quality of patient care and enhance the staffs work environment by increasing their interaction and decreasing their workload.

HAND RENDERING & SKETCHES

Page 21: Grace Lawson Portfolio

These sketches and hand renderings are completed using a variety of mediums and techniques including prisma markers, colored pencils, and sketching pencils.

These freehand sketches use the elements and principles of design such as line, form, shape, value, and direction, to create a 3D object or space on a 2D surface.
