    1. Motivation

    Explain this quote: Mothers know best.

    B. Development of Lesson

    1. Presentation

    Read the paragraph.

    Mother and Baby

    After work, mother loves to cuddle and play with her cute babyboy, this has become her routine, since she enjoys and feels the

    warmth of babys touch through her fingers. She sees and assuresherself that there is never a dull moment with her baby, baby smiles

    and giggles with mother while playing. Mothers touch outgrows andcomplete babys day.

    2. Comprehension Check Up

    1. What does mother do in the paragraph?

    2. Is it true that a babys smile can relieve a parents tiredness?Explain further.

    Read the following sentences taken from the paragraph.

    Lets analyze the sentences in their essential parts.

    Ask:

    What word in the sentence tells whom or who is being talked

    about?

    Answer: Mother

    What words in the sentences tells what the subject did?

    Answer: cuddle and play

    Ask:

    1. How many subjects are there in the sentence?Answer: one

    2. How many predicates are there in the sentence?

    Answer: two

    3. What word joins the predicate?Answer: and

    4. Then, what kind of subjects do we have in the sentence?Answer: simple subject

    5. What kind of predicates are in the sentences?Answer: compound predicates

    After every sentence, put a bar to indicate the subject and

    predicates, encircle the simple subject and underline the compoundpredicates.

    Continue the discussion with the rest of the sentences.

    Say: Our pattern for this simple sentence is simple subject +compound predicate = (SS + CP)

    Concepts:

    1. The simple subject is the word that tells who or what the

    sentence is all about.2. The compound predicate consists of two or more verbs/ verb

    phrases joined by and or.3. We use the connector and to join compound predicates.

    4. Use the pattern ss + cp to make up a simple sentence.

    Look at the picture. Use the ss + cp pattern to make a sentence.
