As we plan for the 2014-2015 school year I want to make you aware of a change

relating to student classroom placement. 5th and 6th grade students rotate every day for various subjects and have the

opportunity to meet with all three teachers. Each student will be assigned a homeroom teacher. We welcome any input you may wish to share regarding

your child such as needing a more or less structured classroom, learning styles and academic needs. We consider many variables when placing students with

homeroom teachers; teacher input, parent input, gender, special needs, learning styles, among other characteristics, in order to make the best placement possi-

ble for your child. We appreciate your feedback and make every attempt to find the best classroom for each and every student. The form that you will need to

fill out to give us your input is attached to this newsletter. All forms should be turned in no later than June 20, 2014.

MINNEWASKA AREA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Dear Parents/Guardian: It is our goal at Minnewaska Area Intermediate School to place every student in a classroom that will best meet each child’s needs. In doing this we take a lot of information into account, including: Academic Achievement Learning Styles Special Needs Gender Balance Study Habits Parental Input Personality Traits Social Skills Peer Relationships As we begin the process of designing classes which are healthy, positive environments for students and staff, we thank you for your input and remind you that your child’s current teacher will be involved in the classroom placement for 2014-2015.

Student Name_____________________________________________ Grade next year _____________ Parent/Guardian Name:_________________________________________________________________ Please consider these characteristics of my child in determining classroom placement for the 2014-2015 school year. (i.e. My son or daughter would benefit from a more structured classroom, strong reading influence, male instructor, female/motherly type instructor, needs to move around, etc.)

Please refrain from adding teachers names to this form.

Please keep in mind that parental input is only one piece of information taken into consideration when making up a class

list. We reserve the right to place students in classrooms based on several criteria, which includes parents input.
