It is hard to believe that we are at the beginning of June and have a mere 4 weeks left in this school year. It has been an exciting and informative learning year for all of us at Sherwood. Over the course of the year we have had some staffing changes that led to learning opportunities for students and staff alike. We are please to have Mr. Schiestel returning to us for the rest of the school year. He will be in the Grade 5/6 classroom. This year staff and students have worked together with a focus on creating good citizenship and a sense of communi- ty. I want to thank all those who have been a part of this effort. It has made our school a better place for everyone! I also want to thank parents for the work you do at home that prepares students to achieve. When students get prop- er sleep, proper nutrition, and lots of love, they can achieve great things at school. It is a busy time of year, and one of the things I am doing is preparing for next year. Our staffing is well underway, and although it is not confirmed yet, it looks like our staffing will be as follows: JK/SK/Grade 1 TBD Grades 2/3 Mrs. Ducker Grades 4/5 Mrs. Recoskie Grades 6/7/8 Ms. Poff French/Arts Mme Wojick SERT Ms. Fritz I hope that you all have a wonderful summer, filled with great memories and lots of rest and relaxation. I look forward to seeing everyone well rested and raring to go on another learning journey. Thank You Greg Harkness DRESSING FOR THE WEATHER With warmer weather here, students and parents are reminded of our dress code. Stu- dents are expected to wear appropriate school attire. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Hello everyone! This year staff and students have worked together with a focus on creating good citizenship and a sense of communi-ty. I want to thank all those who have been a part of this effort. It has made our school a better place for everyone! I also want to thank parents for the work you do at home that prepares students to achieve. When students get prop-er sleep, proper nutrition, and lots of love, they can achieve great things at school. Thank You Greg Harkness

Thank you very much for your support and attention to this matter.

Dear Sherwood School Family,

The Kindergarten Team is planning a new routine for our class and we need your help.

Our class and all Sherwood Students, will be using the outdoor as a regular learning space to develop new learning experiences. There is a growing amount of scientific evidence that when we provide children with the chance to spend regular time in nature- they are happier, healthier, and better learners. These experiences are critical for full development.

To enhance our outdoor learning area, we are requesting the assistance of our loving and supportive school community to gather donations.

We are looking for: (No glass please)

Metal pots

Large and small metal utensils.

Tires

Wood slices

Large wooden “stumps”

Metal strainers

Measuring cups

Metal cookie and bread baking pans

Large and small containers to transport water and mud

Large and small rocks

Brooms and dustpans

Short and Long logs for balance beams

Flowers to the Gow Family who are building a mud kitchen

Partners in Education, Ms. Wolfgram and Ms. Wattie

The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) is responsible for providing transporta-tion service to over 10,000 Renfrew County students to 53 different schools for both the Renfrew Coun-ty District School Board and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. Three routers are re-sponsible for creating over 200 bus routes to ensure that these students have safe, efficient, effective transportation to and from school daily. As safety of students is a priority, it takes time, and occasional-ly a physical review of a designated stop to process transportation requests, especially from mid-August to mid-October when there is a high volume of requests which results in delays in responding to individual requests.

What can you do to help? Please log into the “Parent Portal” by visiting our website (www.onthebus.ca) after August 20
