A day in the life of our graduates…
“My time with the Investment team really helped to develop my knowledge of diversification across asset classes, as well as the importance of the role of specific funds within each portfolio. My responsibilities consisted of designing bespoke presentations to building model portfolios through specialised software, to ensure what went on behind the scenes could help to meet advice objectives and requirements. I also had the opportunity to be involved with the company Investment Committee, which brought together all elements of investments and advice into a monthly meeting.”
“During my time in the client services department, I worked directly with a number of advisers in the business leading the pre and post meeting pack work. This puts you right at the heart of the operational side of the business producing resources that will ultimately aid the adviser-client relationship. Being new to the industry, this role is vital for learning how the financial services industry works and how administration plays a huge role. I have assisted in a number of reports from bond split assignments to pension transfers which requires high attention to detail and good communication with product providers.”
“My role in the Marketing team is focused around generating new business and growing brand awareness. I am responsible for our content marketing strategy and have regular input into the strategic direction of the team. I also look after our presence online, including the website and social media. The Private Office are unique because they encourage their graduates to apply their degree based learning. You don’t just sit back and do admin, you are given projects that are core to the business and its growth.“
“During my time in the Finance team I was responsible for managing both existing and new relationships with product providers, primarily checking that we were receiving commissions from product providers into our bank account. The experience in liaising closely with product providers enhanced my communication skills, as well as developing the technical knowledge associated with the products within the wealth management industry.”
The main aim of the paraplanning support team is to assist the paraplanners writing the suitability reports by providing research on the client’s existing plans. Working in this team has given me exposure to a variety of different financial products and I have been able to learn the typical features of each. There are a number of bespoke tasks as well that the Paraplanning Support Associates are asked to carry out from time to time. Working closely with the paraplanners means we are able to get a great understanding for how advice is formulated and written.
“My time in the Risk & Regulatory team allowed me to both into all areas of the company at both a high level, working with seniors who had a wealth of experience to share, and lead projects of which I was given full responsibility for. Such projects looked into adviser training, streamlining our client fees arrangement, and titivating our Terms of Business. As we have expanded some of these projects now span across the R&R, Central Ops, and Business Development teams which all strive for the goal of an excellent client experience.”
