Designed to promote geo-spatial
data sharing and enable access to
Government of Maharashtra owned
data for State planning and
development.
The policy will apply to all non-
sensitive sharable data available
either in digital or analog form but
generated using public fund by
various Departments / Sub-ordinate
offices/ Organizations/ Agencies of
Government of Maharashtra.
Geospatial Data base : • As per recent mandate given by Planning Department, MRSAC is a
custodian of GIS database of State in State Data Bank.
• Geo-spatial Database has been deployed at State Data Centre, Govt. of
Maharashtra
Maharashtra Geo-Portal : • MRSAC has developed a Geo-portal, through which the User
Departments can access thematic maps on need basis, as well as, use
the GIS database as OGC compliant web services(WMS, WFS, WCS,
WFS-T).
• This is being done for multi data sharing and avoids redundancy in
database creation
Creation of New database and Capacity
Building : MRSAC proposes to organize Training/workshops for User Departments
to make them aware of available of GIS database under State Data bank
and also help them to generate use/update /create new geo-spatial dataset
of their interest.
SSDI- Maharashtra • The Geo-spatial Data base of MRSAC will be in accordance
with the guidelines for “State Spatial Database Infrastructure”
(SSDI)
• A proposal is submitted to the Dept. of Science and Technology,
Govt. of India for considering Maharashtra State under SSDI.
• The initial discussions with NSDI officials are being done and
soon its implementation will commence.
• In this endeavor, MRSAC will closely associate with DIT
for availing SDC infrastructure and implementation of
SSDI in State
Mobile Applications • MRSAC is working on the development of mobile applications for
GIS based infrastructure and assets mapping.
• Currently, the application is targeted for
• for monitoring Watershed activities in IWMP projects.
• Asset Mapping for RDD
• Health Facility Mapping
• Minor Minerals mapping for District Administration
• Development Scheme mapping - (Chandrapur and
Gadchiroli district), etc.
GramPanchayat boundary as Web Map Service
MRSAC has geo-reference +44000 villages ( as per Census 2001 / 2011) maps of Land Record Department
A village mosaic has been generated and being served as Web Map Service along with 15+ thematic layers
Gram Panchayat data of RDD is being joined with Geo-referenced Village maps to generate Gram Panchayat map on MRSAC ‘GeoPortal’
The web Gram Panchayat map will be available as WMS to different departments, as per data sharing policy.
Similarly, MRSAC also expect data from Central Govt on shared basis.
Mapping Status as on Date
Villages as per Census 2011 – 43943
LB Directory Received from RDD – 43871
Village maps available with MRSAC – 43780
Village maps not yet received from Land Records( as per 2011) – 160
Data Cleaning is required for duplicate village codes approx 200
Pilot Project on Election ward / Prabhag boundary mapping
Using High Resolution Satellite data and with Mobile based
tracking application.
For State Election Commission,
Government of Maharashtra
• Gram Panchayat - Kon
• Kon, Borle, Ajivali
Objectives of Pilot Project
To map the ward/ prabhag boundaries
based on
population, Natural bounds, streets, rails,
important locations, etc..
To Eliminate sketchy/ arbitrary boundary
Make use of latest technology of Remote
Sensing , GIS and GPS
.
