Grammar Mini-LessonUsing commas correctly.

Rule 1: Use a comma between a city or town and a state and country. Use a comma after the state or country if the sentence continues.

I lived in Augusta, Georgia, for nearly ten years.Rule 2: Use a comma between day and year. Use a

comma after the year if the sentence continues. My brother celebrated his birthday October 9, 2009,

with friends in Mexico.Rule 3: When writing a letter, use a comma after the

greeting. Also, use a comma after the closing word. The closing word comes before the signature.
