There Their They’re

When you speak, there, their, and they’re sound alike.

However, these three words are used and spelled differently. You need to remember these differences to write them correctly.

There Their They’re

There = refers to a place

Their = is a possessive adjective (shows possession)

They’re = means they are

They’re playing basketball. (they are)

Or……They’re reading Lord of the Flies.They’re going to the Celtics game.They’re trying out for track.They’re having a great time.They’re bored right now.

What about THERE?The word there indicates a specific location

or place.

There---continued There is an expression of place. Often, but

not always, there is used as an adverb.

Examples:My keys are over there on the table.

My uncle is having a party, and I promised I would be there.

Kevin is at the gym, I’ll go there after school.

Sometimes, there is used as a pronoun to start a sentence.

Examples:There is a lot of work to finish.

There is some milk in the refrigerator.

There were many cars on the highway last night.

In the example below, it means both students have the same test.
