If you have any questions regarding the wage change or your evaluation, please talk to your supervisor.

Attention Associates: New Participant Claim Address and Scheduled System Maintenance for ADP

System maintenance will take place in the ADP Consumer Health and Spending Account systems the evening of Friday, July 22, 2016.

After the maintenance is complete, there will be a new P.O. Box for participants who submit claims to ADP via the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The new P.O. Box will appear on the participant website and on the claim forms. The USPS will forward claims from the old P.O. Box to the new one, but participants should be aware that there may be a delay in processing while claims are being forwarded. If participants choose to mail their claims through the USPS or submit by fax, they should download a new form for each claim and submit it to the address/fax number indicated on the form.

As a reminder, claim forms should not be copied for reuse. Each time a claim form is downloaded from the ADP Spending Account website, it is embedded with a unique, single-use barcode. Copying and reusing forms can cause delays in processing and reimbursement. For the fastest and most secure claims processing, participants should use the online claim submission tool.

SCHEDULEThe system maintenance will be performed from Friday, July 22nd at 9:30 pm through Saturday, July 23rd at 5:30 am, Eastern Time. During this timeframe, users may experience intermittent issues accessing the Consumer Health and Spending Account systems.

ASSOCIATE NEWS

Congratulations On Your New Position Bob Schlichte, VP of Strategic Relations and Kelly Sam, Director of Strategic Relations

Please congratulate Bob Schlichte as the new VP of Strategic Relations. Bob has built cornerstone relationships and networks in the metro area for over 11 years and has earned the much coveted title VP of Strategic Relations. In his new assignment, Bob will be training and mentoring Kelly Sam who has accepted the Director of Strategic Relations.

Please welcome Kelly Sam as Director of Strategic Relations. Kelly will be shadowing Bob Schlichte as Bob makes a long transition into retirement. Since it took Bob years to forge the unshakable relations he has built, we felt it necessary to add Kelly well in advance of his retirement, giving Kelly an opportunity to build a solid base.

Kelly comes to us with a 16 years’ experience from Goff Public, a top-rated public and government relations firm. Approximately 11 years ago, while with Goff Public, Kelly served on the Grand Casino account and worked hard to protect and advance our reputation through tailored public relations efforts. During this time, Kelly also assisted the Mille Lacs Band Government Affairs initiatives. She worked closely with the Band to understand key objectives to help achieve well-rounded legislative campaigns.

Kelly was a results-oriented PR coordinator who provided consult to not only help Grand Casinos and the Mille Lacs Band through PR events, but also advanced growth opportunities. Her vast experience with Public and Government Relations is a necessary skill in her new role. We look forward to Kelly’s contributions as she learns the Director of Strategic Relations role and eases Bob’s extended shift into retirement. Welcome to the Grand Casino team, Kelly!

SERVICE RECOGNITION

GuestNet Shout - Outs

Bell Desk: Can’t say enough good things regarding Jeffery (and others). Always quick to assist and greeted with a huge smile and great conversation.

Beverage Service: Laurie, during daytime, is very nice and friendly.

Beverage Service:

Troy “the beer man” is so sweet. He is so friendly and makes you feel so welcome. He makes you feel like family. He knows so many people by name and everyone likes him and looks forward to seeing him come around. If he is up for adoption, we will take him for our son.

Beverage Service: Troy, the Beverage Server, is excellent.

Blackjack: Bradley is a lot of fun to have as a dealer.

Blackjack: We loved our Blackjack dealer, Matt H! The pit bosses were also really great, and Matt made the experience a very positive and fun one, even when we were losing.

Blackjack: Blackjack is what brings me to Hinckley. The dealers and supervisors are all great to interact with. One such individual is Joanie O’Brien!

Casino Bars: We love chatting with Troy, and also Shanna, while playing video poker.

Casino Housekeeping: Mr. Jerry Fisch was extremely courteous and polite. Interacted with many customers and promoted a positive environment!

Grand Buffet: Complements to Server Johana. She was very friendly and efficient. Thanks!

Grand Grill Americana:We did not eat at Grand Grill but ordered take out from the bar. Thanks to Rochelle and Penny who are doing a wonderful job and bringing the bar service up to par as a customer would expect. Food and service were great!

Grand Grill Americana: Hostess Vickie Burton was friendly, courteous, efficient. Give this Associate a promotion!

Grand Grill Americana: Joyce N. was extremely pleasant, and wonderful.

Grand Hinckley Inn: Rebecca J. was very friendly and helpful.

Grand Hinckley Inn: Amanda at the front desk was very helpful, friendly and polite.

Host Reservation:My host, Elaine, is THE BEST!!!! Any time I contact her, she gets back to me right away. If I ask for anything, she does her best to take care of whatever it is. She is so caring and lets me know if there is something coming up that I may be interested in.

Host Reservation: Kat Johnson is always very helpful. She always is able to make sure I have what I need.

Host Reservation: Paul, my host, went out of his way to not only secure a room at the last minute, but also found tickets to the Alabama concert. Now that’s the host with the most! Thanks Paul!

Hotel Front Desk: Jacqueline was great!!!!

RV Resort/Chalets: Michelle, Rosie and Tammy are especially helpful. Terry is also very friendly and helpful.

Winds Steakhouse:

Our server, Joshua, I believe was his name, was attentive, professional courteous, cognizant of our schedule (my daughter and grandson were attending the Hunter Hayes concert) and got us served and out the door efficiently. My husband was impressed that he was able to get his steak a bit more “done” (at the suggestion of our waiter, who wanted Bob to be happy with his meal)so quickly and with a smile. Great service, good food, quiet atmosphere in The Winds...

Winds Steakhouse: Although this time she was not our waitress, Heidi always takes the time to come to our table to say hi and catch us up on things. She is a definite keeper!

Emotional ResponsesWhen you hit your thumb with a hammer, you know what causes the pain. Do you know what causes the emotion? All of us have nervous systems that cause us to feel pain. All of us have emotions, too. We feel happy, sad, angry, elated, hopeless, inspired. But where do the emotions come from? What causes them? When you hit your thumb with a hammer, you feel pain. You may also feel some anger and maybe even some shame. We can safely say that the hammer caused the pain. But we can't say that the hammer caused the anger or the shame. If that were true, then it wouldn't matter who hit them on the thumb, every single person would feel exactly the same emotions. So how come you get mad when the same situation doesn't bother someone else at all? They laugh it off without a hint of anger. You see, the truth is that you cause your own emotions, and you do it with your thoughts. Many centuries ago, Epictetus said, "We are disturbed not by the things that happen, but by our opinion of the things that happen." The good news is that you don't have to let your inner feelings be dictated by the external environment. You can, bit by bit, learn to handle any and every situation

you want to. You can learn to change your opinion of the things that happen so that you control your emotions, rather than letting them control you. Can you see yourself taking charge like this? What is going to happen the next time you "hit your thumb" with a hammer?
