M3W Continue Run

July 2019 – Issue 16

The M3W are now undefeated in their last six

games after defeating North East 3-2 on the

weekend. They played a great 60 minutes of hockey

and were 3-0 up until they totally dropped their

bundle in the last 10 minutes of the game to let

North East score two goals. They are now in fourth,

two points ahead of fifth placed Adelaide and only

a point behind second placed Woodville. They face

a very hard task against top of the table SPOC this

Sunday, but with their confidence high, our women

are very capable of an upset.

James Parry turned back the clock and was back to

his best, nailing a hat trick against Adelaide Uni in

a scrappy and hard fought 3-2 win. It gave the

M5M back to back wins and could have started

something of a late season revival.

The Masters Women welcomed Sheree Brennan to

the team and club. Sheree played for GRHC many

years ago so it is wonderful to have her back on the

field in the forward line, she certainly still has her

touch so will be an asset to the team. They played,

got rained on and they lost. Has to be said that it

was not their best game, however Nichole

Whinnett put the pads on for the second time ever

and absolutely smashed it. She was brilliant in goals

and saved a heap (some quite speccy and athletic

saves in there too), perhaps like mother like son!

The Masters Men also faced wet and miserable

weather conditions, and their on-field play wasn’t

much better. It just wasn’t their night and they

were beaten by a better side, going down 2-5 to

Forestville.
