Sonitrol Report February 2016

February 26, 2016

Fire System: 1

• MS fire system trouble ground fault 11:21pm-11:42pm February 5, 2016

o Having Sonitrol ignore it for the weekend. We have had a lot of rain and at least 2 lightning flashes happen.

Failure to Code: 3

• HS Stadium not armed 11:17pm-11:37pm February 02, 2016 • CRHS Music Portable not armed 11:20pm-11:40pm February 5, 2016

o Cheryl berg was the one to disarm it at 8:40am. • Pop-Rogers not armed 11:18pm-11:30pm February 9, 2016 • HS Press Box not armed 11:18pm-11:38PM February 25, 2016

o Jeremy M. disarmed at 2:40pm and the building was not armed. I was not able to arm the system. I could make phone calls. Sonitrol could not contact it. They wrote it up for service for tomorrow.

Door Alarm: 5

• CRHS Portable door alarm P1 7:21am-7:31am February 1, 2016

o (Work hours) I did not find anyone at the portable and Cheryl said there is not a sub today.

• MS Door Alarms 4:51pm-5:44pm February 7, 2016 o At 4:51pm Sonitrol notified me of a door alarm at the MS electrical room. I declined

police response. At 4:53pm there was a second door alarm for the same door. I arrived and there was an adult that stated to sit down on the bench in front of the music room. When I went outside to see if he was still there he was gone. I patrolled around the building to see if he was still there and to make sure the building was secure. I was not able to open any of the electrical room doors. I reviewed the cameras again and saw that we spent a sometime near our front electric room or common doors. The camera show him leaving the school grounds a few minutes after I arrived. I also found our back fence gate near the portables off the hinges (See photo). I think we need a second chain around that gate. I notified Sonitrol at 5:21pm of the situation and asked for the following buildings to be placed on a higher alert status. The Middle school and Portables, Multipurpose, and the Crossroads buildings. I then called Mike S. and updated him on the situation.

• Multipurpose Door alarm 2:22pm February 9, 2016 o (Work Hours) Found the door by the bus drop off next to the stop sign unlocked.

Brandon said Dave B. was the cause of the alarm. • MWE Door Alarm and Invalid Code 3:03am-3:04am February 12, 2016

o (Non-callout handled over the phone) The two alarms were caused by Jesse Aguero. Sonitrol said he forgot his code. I let them know he is the custodian and authorized them to help him with his code.

• MS Portables Door Alarms Multiple 11:42am-11:44am February 12, 2016 o (Work Hours) The door alarms for M6, M5, and M8 were caused by Dan S. He was

escorting contractors.

Sonitrol Report February 2016

2 | P a g e MDT

February 26, 2016

• Audio Alarm: 3

• CRHS Audio Alarm 8:49pm-9:05pm February 16, 2016

o Sonitrol called saying they hear a female voice say something like “Sonitrol”. They said no one has called or tried to disarm. Pearl P. armed the building at 8:04pm. I found Bridgette after I disarmed the building. They were having their night school session

• CRHS audio alarm s entrance February 3:04pm-3:11pm 20, 2016 o (Non-callout handled over the phone) It was caused by a staff member returning a

white van and dropping of the keys. The building was still on high alert as well. I asked them to remove the alert.

• MCE police dispatched for suspicious audio 9:56pm February 24 2016 o (Non-callout handled over the phone) Sonitrol called to notify they sent officers to MCE

near the gym for suspicious audio. I asked to be notified if the officers need a district representative. I was not called back.

From the Superintendent’s Desk March 2, 2016 School Board Meeting

1. Strategic Plan Goal #1: Quality Learning. Engage and inspire every student through powerful and innovative

instruction, fostering development of critical-thinking skills and motivating academic achievement through

high expectations.

Our WSLA coach was in the district February 29, 2016. She is helping us build our leadership capacity as administrators and teacher leaders.

Our correction plan for the Civil Right Audit has been sent to OSPI and received approval. Carol Panagos and Mike Sullivan were instrumental in getting the plan designed and approved.

Our corrective plan for the Consolidated Program Review (CPR) is due this month. Cabinet is working on getting the compliance issues to OSPI. Karin Manns is the lead and has worked extremely hard throughout the year to help us not only be in compliance, but also to best serve students with state and federal programs.

Thank you for devoting time for the study session last Wednesday. It is important to look at opportunities to maximize our resources and provide quality learning. Every student, every day, every classroom.

2. Strategic Plan Goal #2: Positive Image. Strengthen our district by countering unfounded perceptions and

stereotypes of Granite Falls. Celebrate student successes and civic progress, working collaboratively with

district partners—including local government, the chamber of commerce, and service organizations.

I attended the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office 2015 Awards Ceremony on February 18, 2016. During the ceremony at the Everett Performing Arts Center, Bret Benzion and Emma Loney each received Letter of Commendation. Their bravery and community commitment was recognized. Bret and Emma were the only students from Snohomish County recognized that night.

The Key Communicator group met on February 29, 2016. They looked at the survey data and talked about the elementary reconfiguration.

The Battle of the Classes is such a great series of activities. The last few weeks had entailed decorating hallways, dressing to themes, macho volleyball, powder puff football, skits, and fun games to foster teamwork and healthy competition. This event is unique to our district.

Granite Falls Education Foundation will have Granite’s Got Talent on March 12, 2016 at 6:00. This fundraising event will take place at the PAC. Admission is $5 for children and seniors with $8 for adults. Proceeds goes to the scholarship fund.

I attended the Mentor Luncheon on Saturday, February 27th at the Legion Hall. This function recognized mentors and recruited new mentors from the community.

3. Strategic Plan Goal #3: College- and Career-Ready. Ensure that every student transitions successfully

between grades and schools and graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitude to excel in diverse post-

secondary opportunities. Foster student achievement through active partnerships with parents, families

and our community.

Friday, our CTE teachers at the high schools and middle school will be working as a PLC during early release. They are discussing current classes and planning for the future. This will also help us with the needs for the middle school building.

The high school counseling department and senior class advisor worked on a standard community scholarship application. Organizations can still ask additional questions, but the new application allows students to provide the basic information universally and save them time. This should also allow students to apply for more of the local scholarships. This giving community usually gives about $50,000 each year.
