GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO SANDY BROWN

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Brown created and implemented an Advanced Certificate in Computer Safety in response to community requests for additional security training; and WHEREAS, Professor Brown organized a conference at the College that included computer and security expertise from colleges and businesses which served as an information gathering and sharing experience for all, and led to a selection of the skills needed for the new Advanced Security Certificate; and WHEREAS, Professor Brown often initiated and led committees that tackled tough and contentious issues such as providing a process and equitable solution to faulty overload hours; she co-chaired a committee to implement required advising for all FLCC students, and she served as co-chair for the Middle States Accreditation; and WHEREAS, Professor Brown lead the campaign to split the Math and Computer Science department into two separate departments to better serve the individual needs and goals of each discipline; and WHEREAS, Professor Brown worked tirelessly to write most of the Gaming degree to meet the SUNY standards; and WHEREAS, when a fellow colleague fell ill, Professor Brown selflessly assisted with daily departmental responsibilities, accompanied the colleague to chemo sessions, and made meals for her family while carrying a full load of classes; and WHEREAS, The Daily Messenger recently recognized the efforts of Professor Brown for helping establish a club called, “Girls Who Code” to introduce and encourage middle school- aged girls to explore opportunities within the STEM disciplines; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Sandy Brown with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT DIRECTOR EMERITUS TO CORINNE CANOUGH

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Corinne Canough worked tirelessly to improve the student experience; she established the College's Food Cupboard, created the Core Advisor concept, created a faculty advisor training and compensation model for new student registration, refined the College's Crisis Response Policy and Procedures for students experiencing mental health and wellness challenges, and worked collaboratively with Student Services division staff to create the Help Desk which was funded through Strategic Plan funds; and WHEREAS, Ms. Canough was instrumental in the successful launch of the One Stop Center and endlessly innovated the registration model for new students, and worked tirelessly to train faculty to be better advisors; and WHEREAS, Ms. Canough played a crucial role in refining the basic skills placement testing procedures; and WHEREAS, Ms. Canough launched the Aspiring Nurses Roundtable, which served to strengthen the retention and persistence of pre-nursing students and was funded through Strategic Plan grant funds from 2014-2015 through 2016-2017; and WHEREAS, Ms. Canough was so valued by the campus community for her knowledge, skills, work ethic, dedication to students, her colleagues and FLCC, she received many awards, including Distinguished Service awards and the Chancellor's Award for Professional Service; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Director Emeritus status upon Corinne Canough with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO NANCY CLARKSON

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson led the nursing program in 2010 through successful re-Accreditation by ACEN; and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson was the nursing club advisor for many years and as a result of her talent and dedication to her students, was a recipient of the Chancellors Award for Excellence in Teaching; and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson served on the Academic Affairs and Vision Committees as well as the FLCC Foundation Board and the 1996 Middle States Review Committee. She was recognized for her dedication to the students and the College community and was the recipient of the Outstanding Employee Award twice, and the Golden Apple Award during her years at FLCC; and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson co-authored a nursing textbook entitled, Quick Look Nursing Pharmacology in 2004. She presented at numerous National Conferences on topics related to her published work; and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson's community involvement included, but was not limited to: Keuka College Nursing Honor Society, the NYS Associate Degree Nursing Council, Western NY Nurse Educator's Consortium Group, the Board of Directors of the Lucretia Richter Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund Inc., the Nursing Advisory Committees for the Marion S. Whalen School of Practical Nursing, Keuka College, Nazareth College, and the Ontario County Public Health Department; and WHEREAS, Professor Clarkson was an outstanding educator and leader, and positively represented FLCC in the community, and actively co-developed with Saint John Fisher the current FLCC/Saint John Fisher College Dual Degree AAS/BS program; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Nancy Clarkson with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO BRUCE GILMAN

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Gilman’s interest in the ecology of Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes created a foundation for research that focuses on water quality trends, and he has been instrumental with maintaining these research efforts. Professor Gilman’s professionalism has helped protect these natural resources and has also garnered much respect for the College in the community; and WHEREAS, Professor Gilman offered meaningful mentoring opportunities to students outside the classroom including involvement in research projects, campus beautification, and professional conferences; and WHEREAS, Professor Gilman has directed the Mueller Field Station for many years, which continues to allow students direct access to their area of study. He increased the value of the field station to the local public schools and community through a ‘Speaking of Nature’ seminar series, held for more than 10 years; and WHEREAS, Professor Gilman enrolled in classes in Glacial Geology to broaden his own knowledge, and a class in that area of study is now offered at the College. As a testament to his high teaching standards, Professor Gilman was awarded the SUNY Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence; and WHEREAS, Professor Gilman hosted the Rochester Museum of Science annual meeting at FLCC several times over the last 15 years and has been involved with numerous organizations including The Nature Conservancy where he was awarded the Lake Tear of the Sky Award for his volunteerism; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Bruce Gilman with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO DENNIS “PUTT” MOORE

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, during his tenure as a Professor, Department Chair, and Athletic director, Professor Moore was a founding father of the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC); and WHEREAS, Professor Moore helped create the first NJCAA women's lacrosse team in the nation, and is now a member of the women's lacrosse hall of fame; and WHEREAS, Professor Moore was named the Region III athletic director of the year in 2005-06 and became a member of the Canandaigua Academy hall of fame. The FLCC gym is officially named the "Putt Moore" court in honor of his accomplishments and service; and WHEREAS, Professor Moore helped create the AS Physical Education and Exercise Science degree, AAS Therapeutic Massage, Athletic Training, and EMS/Paramedic programs, and laid the foundation to create the Nutrition & Dietetics program and the AS Health Care Studies, which is now the largest enrolled program on campus; and WHEREAS, Professor Moore taught virtually every PE and HPE class and personally staffed hundreds of positions over the years, and served on many committees which helped him earn the SUNY Chancellors Award for Exceptional Service; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Putt Moore with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO LOUISE MULVANEY

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Mulvaney was a well-respected faculty member and mentor for both students and faculty alike, as well as a tireless advocate for students, and in recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was awarded a Distinguished Service award from the Humanities Department, an Exceptional Service award, and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching; and WHEREAS, from 1986 until her retirement, Professor Mulvaney served as advisor to FLCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and was instrumental in establishing the New York Region of Phi Theta Kappa in the 1980’s. Using her own money to support the PTK students until the College could fund chapter activities allowed students to attend leadership conferences, and many students became eligible for transfer scholarships; and WHEREAS, Professor Mulvaney’s contributions were recognized as she received the Robert Giles Distinguished Advisor Award in 1988 and the Continued Excellence Award for PTK Advisors in 2000, 2003 and 2005; and WHEREAS, many of the PTK community service events that Professor Mulvaney organized also benefited the Canandaigua community such as the Angel Tree project where PTK adopted 50-75 children from the community to buy their Christmas gifts. She established an Adopt-a-Highway Program committing PTK to keeping a 2-mile stretch of highway on Routes 5 & 20 clean; and WHEREAS, in her retirement, Louise continues to be involved with the College, helping to raise funds and organize the FLCC Foundation's annual Book Feast fundraiser and was recently presented with the CCFL/FLCC Alumni Association Exceptional Service Award recognizing outstanding CCFL/FLCC campus contributions; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Louise Mulvaney with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO BARBARA MURPHY

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Murphy served at the Newark Campus Center and her advocacy and vocal support ensured campus center student’s experiences were parallel to those of their main campus counterparts; and WHEREAS, Professor Murphy exhibited an exemplary and vibrantly engaging teaching style. Her ability to focus on students' needs, and her finely tuned sense of humor - never hurtful, helped her students feel comfortable; in fact, Professor Murphy created puppet shows to help students engage in different mediums; and WHEREAS, Professor Murphy tirelessly volunteered for many college-wide committees; the Faculty Promotions Committee, Academic Senate, and the Curriculum Committee, which she chaired for several years. She was instrumental in creating major initiatives at the College such as the Integrated Reading and Writing and REC programs. Professor Murphy was the department curriculum expert and organized the assessment activities for both the Developmental Studies Department and the IRW assessment for the Humanities Department; and WHEREAS, Professor Murphy was a distinguished member of numerous professional organizations such as the New York College Learning Skills Association, for which she was a regional representative and the National Association of Developmental Educators, among others. She contributed to professional journals, attended and presented at scores of conferences, both regional and national. Professor Murphy was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, and was also awarded The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Barbara Murphy with all the rights and privileges thereof.

GRANT PROFESSOR EMERITUS TO MICHAEL PROCKTON

WHEREAS, Emeritus status was established to recognize College employees who retire in good standing, have served the College with distinction for a minimum of fifteen years, and their contributions have been widely recognized by the College and the sponsoring community, and WHEREAS, Professor Prockton viewed his role as a faculty member and mentor not as a profession but a vocation. He truly cared about his students, encouraging them to succeed even after they left the College. He believed “once your professor, always your professor”; and WHEREAS, Professor Prockton established the Mark J. Prockton Accounting Award for deserving students which is granted annually and has helped many students over the years. Professor Prockton’s commitment to his students was publicly recognized in 2002 when he received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award in Teaching Excellence; and WHEREAS, serving as Accounting Program Coordinator, Professor Prockton developed and implemented many of the online accounting courses; and WHEREAS, Professor Prockton served on college committees, served as department chairperson for the Business department, assistant cross country coach, head cross country coach and continues to currently serve on the FLCC athletic advisory board. His professionalism and service to the College was acknowledged in 2016 with the FLCC Spirit Award; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the FLCC Board of Trustees hereby bestow the distinction of Professor Emeritus status upon Michael Prockton with all the rights and privileges thereof.

Finger Lakes Community College Board of Trustees in the professional service as defined by §6306 (2) of New York State

Higher Education Law as approved by the Chancellor of the State University of New York; and

WHEREAS, the following is a revised job description for previously approved job description for Finger Lakes Community

ACCEPT AUDITORS’ REPORT FOR FLCC OPERATING FUND AND FEDERAL FUNDS FOR FLCC FISCAL YEAR 2017-2018

WHEREAS, the Code of Standards and Procedures for the Administration and Operation of Community Colleges under the Program of State University of New York requires that the records and accounts of the community college be audited annually by a certified public independent accounting firm or the agency of the sponsor responsible for the performance of audits; and WHEREAS, the external auditors have completed their review of Finger Lakes Community College’s financial statements and related schedules for fiscal year 2017-2018; and WHEREAS, the FLCC Board of Trustees Audit & Enterprise Risk Management Committee has reviewed these financial statements and recommends acceptance of said financial statements by the Finger Lakes Community College Board of Trustees; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the audited financial statements prepared by the College’s external auditor for fiscal year 2017-2018 are hereby accepted.
