ABSTRACT The main objective is to design a autonomous grass

cutter to incorporates all of the features from various type of grass cutter.

It is autonomous grass cutter that utilize each of the benefits, creating a safe, reliable and user friendly grass cutter.

Page 4: Grass cutter robot

INTRODUCTION The robots fight to take over most of the tasks and we

must recognize that often they win without too much effort. Such case is the grass lawn care from home.

Research in the field led to the creation of autonomous robots which can be used for lawn care. They can cut the grass, can avoid obstacles, can recharge automatically from a designated power station, all these without direct human intervention.

Page 5: Grass cutter robot

They are environmentally friendly because the only resource they need is electricity which is stored in their batteries. Maintaining a grass lawn also means its fertilization which takes place naturally.

Atmega8 Microcontroller I/O Ports: 23 I/O lines Three ports: Port B, Port C and Port D. 28 Pin IC

Page 8: Grass cutter robot

IC-L293D L293D is a Motor driver integrated circuit. Used to drive DC motors rotating in either direction. 16-pin IC and it can control a set of two DC motors

simultaneously

Regulator 7806 7806 is a voltage regulator integrated circuit. The voltage source in a circuit may have fluctuations

and would not give the fixed voltage output. The voltage regulator IC maintains the output voltage

at a constant value.

Drive motorThe role of this electric motor is to provide motion for robotic platform. Even if it has a relatively simple role, there are situations where the electric motor must sustain a high effort to pass through high grass.

Chassis The chassis is the main building block that supports all other

components and typically consists of hard materials such as steel or hardened aluminum. A component that is mounted on the chassis is a mower deck which can be controlled manually or automatically by the machine. This deck has the role to determine the height at which the grass is cut.

Page 11: Grass cutter robot

Switch A switch is an electrical component that can break an electrical

circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another.

Page 12: Grass cutter robot

Blade We could not talk about a grass cutter if it would not

have a blade system to cut the grass, classical well tested solutions do their job in an efficient fashion.

Page 13: Grass cutter robot

Front And Rear Wheels There would be no movement without wheels of the right size. If wheels are not the right size mobility can be affected to a great

extent, for instance passing through grass may pose enormous strain on the electric motor or may not be accomplished at all.

Page 14: Grass cutter robot

Grass Releasing Mechanism There are machines that do not collect cut grass, they simply

chop it into fine fragments that fall back onto the lawn, but there are also systems that collect the grass.

Any robot that collects the grass must be equipped with a release system of it.

Page 15: Grass cutter robot

Design The design of the whole system is divided into three

categories: mechanical, electrical and software.

WORKING OF ROBOT

Page 17: Grass cutter robot

ADVANTAGES1. Such a robot is designed to replace at least one household

chore.2. An autonomous grass cutter require a minimal intervention

from the user.3. An autonomous grass cutter do not require guidance from

the user.4. It is very easy to program a robotic grass cutter.DISADVANTAGES5. In some cases, an autonomous grass cutter, is not safety

enough.6. Working time is very long.

CONCLUSION In future we will be only princes and princesses, at

least at our homes where the robots will be our servants and will take care of all necessary household tasks.

No grass lawn will be unkempt and no human will not have the stress that predicts a tedious task.

The conflict between a wire of grass and a robot full of strength will end in only one way – a perfect lawn.

Page 19: Grass cutter robot

FUTURE WORK This is the key system that will enable the mower to

recognize objects, avoid them, and can mow also in a pattern.

Much experience has already been gained with the other sensors (infrared, solar, etc) working on the first two generations of autonomous lawn mowers.

To allow for greater flexibility in the design, a custom built platform will be used.
