Grassroots Innovation Report

It is a grass root innovation programme. It helps farmers to solve their own problems in

new and cheaper ways than the existing products in the market with the basic knowledge

they possess. It also helps such farmer - entrepreneurs to sell their innovations all over the

country, thus helping many others of their class. It shows that lack of education and

technical expertise cannot become barriers for innovation as long as there is a wish and will

to do. They have brought out many innovations into the market like:

➢ Mahipalweeder

➢ Sri tailam

➢ Air filter

➢ Solar fertilizer

➢ Tree climber

Pedal pump:

It has been invented by B. Mallesh. It can pump up water upto 25 feet. It is a variation of

the hand pump. In the hand pump the strain falls on the hands. In this case it is borne by

the legs. The strain produced is also much less. It doesn't run on any form of electricity or

fuel, just on the power of legs.

On April 13, 2019 the engineering project in community service project expo was held at

our college. Students of various branches took part in this expo. Students displayed their

projects done in epics. The final year students also took part in this expo, they displayed

their major projects and other various projects in the expo. The major attraction of the

expo was Palle Srujana (grassroots innovations), which is an organization that helps

farmers and other villagers in finding solution to their problems they are facing. In the

project expo various machines and methods were displayed by Palle Srujana that were

designed and developed by the farmers.

Palle Srujana displayed various machines such as the soil digging machine that is made by

a farmers, this machine helps them to dig the soil faster and in more efficient way. The

motor of the soil digging machine can also be used as a pump for pulling the water from

ground or well and then supply that water to fields.

The other inventions were the solar powered mobile charger which uses the solar energy to

charge the cell phones. The tree climber, which is a simple yet easy and fast way to climb

coconut trees with the help of few moving parts. The electric pole climber, in this the pair

of slippers were attached to specially designed iron frame that holds the electricity pole

with grip. Dishwasher ,herbal fertilizer made of tulasi leaves and herbs, solar fertilizer

sprayer-which use solar energy to run a pump that sprays the liquid.

This equipment’s made by farmers and urban people show that a person does not need any

degree to achieve their requirements and dreams.

Palle srujana organisation based is on Creating Awareness on innovations in rural or Urban Areas also bringing out the people from their innovations and encouraging them in all aspects.

Developing the good ideas from each consumer or a user and building the products which is useful to society.

Motivation :

HITAM is our motivation to Participating in CSY-25 which encouraged us to Participate.

Our main Intention is to identify the problem and make students do projects in EPICS lab which is established in our college.

Participants 1. Subanali -CSE, Asst.Profesor, HITAM.2. Santosh Naik – Mech, Asst. Professor HITAM

Inspired story:

Padma sree ganesham innovation and motivation of palle srujana and NIF .

CSY Eye opening Story: Venkata reddy and his neighbourhood interacting with a 12 years boy had some interesting hidden skills. They are interested in more innovations to solve problem. But a 12 year boy bothered about they were losing their wages when some innovations had begun in fields and farming agriculture.

Learnings:

Page 5: Grassroots Innovation Report - HITAM · Grassroots Innovation Report It is a grass root innovation programme. It helps farmers to solve their own problems in new and cheaper ways

1. Knowledge sharing between all different types of people while walking.

2. Realizing rural and village people problems and working on them.

Problems identification:

1. Generally for any crop we use only 5% I mean either seeds or fruits

remaining will be wasted. But it consumes energy of land. Is it possible to use

for any other

2. For peanut we pull the crop in that process we may loose some of them. The

peanuts crop shown in fig.1 how can we reduce that lose

3. This is the tool useful for planting trees in dry land but we don't have such

kind of tool for wet land shown in fig.2

4. By using above pump without any glass or bottle person alone can't drink

water. Shown in fig.3

5. How to reduce the food wastage in functions

6. How to reduce the loss of crop during transportation from one place to other
