Dear Friends and Families,

Sometimes, during a busy day or a long meeting, we often

ask ourselves—is the work I’m doing really accomplishing

much? Am I truly making a difference?

And then, there are those rare and wonderful times when

it all becomes clear: this is why I’m doing what I’m doing.

As Chair of the Baptist Homes Foundation Board, I can

count on that moment happening at least a few times

a year, most often during our annual allocations process.

From the first time in the spring, when we hear the

presentations by our staff and volunteers, asking for a grant

for everything from physical therapy equipment to funding

or staff education; to the fall Celebration of Caring, where we

formally bestow our annual grants, and hear from prior year

recipients about all the good things they’ve been able to

accomplish because of their Foundation funding, it reinforces

what the Foundation, and serving on its board, is all about:

enhancing the great work that goes on at Fairport Baptist

Homes every day.

You make that possible—whatever the size of your gift,

however often you give, never doubt that you do make a

difference. As with many senior care facilities, there is a gap

between the income we receive from fees, and the cost of

providing the high quality of care our community has come

to expect from us, and that gap is growing every year. Your

support helps to bridge that gap, and ensure that we can

continue to provide the best possible care and services,

all year long.

As one of the area churches that held a fundraiser for

us recently put it so simply, yet so eloquently: it’s all

about “Caring for those, who cared for us.”

$200,000, a 7% increase from 2015.

How the Fundation fundraised

Our Swing for Seniors Golf Tournament had its best year yet, raising a record $72,357, with another sell-out crowd!

United Way giving enjoyed an increase of almost $1,000 over the previous year, with 91 donors giving a total of $11,281.

165 donors chose to remember a loved one with an Honor/Memorial gift to the Foundation, with gifts totaling well over $10,000.

Step Up for Seniors, our fundraiser/walk, had its largest crowd ever, with 167 participants raising almost $12,000.

58 donors gave a total of almost $13,000 to support our Senior Options for Independence (SOFI) program, which helps keep seniors in their own homes as long as possible.

The faith community continues to be a source of loyal support, sending us gifts totaling close to $18,000 from 86 area churches.
