GREAT ATTITUDES As we launch into the new school year there is clear evidence right across the School of positive, constructive attitudes. Such attitudes will provide everyone within the School with the opportunity of being their best. At the Prize Giving Assembly held to honour the high achievers of the Class of 2018, there was a large number of students presented with certificates who were people who brought positive, constructive mindsets to their work and, as a result, achieved some amazing outcomes. There was one student who was presented with an award who, based on all of our testing was a Stanine 5 student (students can be Stanine 1 up to Stanine 9 – the highest level). This student achieved an ATAR of over 97 which is an amazing result in anyone’s language. That student made a conscious decision that they were going to achieve as highly as they possibly could and, wow, did they ever do that! This is an inspiring story but it is only one of many that are evident in the School in so many different areas of our operation. In sport, in music, drama and dance, in art, in our Café Program, in chess, in Learning Journeys – in all the areas of our School operation we see so many examples of students achieving more highly than they expected and one of the key reasons for this is their positive, constructive attitude. It is worth reflecting on this topic because it is so easy to blame someone else for lower than expected performance. When we step up and accept that, at the end of the day, only we can change things, only we can make a difference, only we can be the person we want to be, only we can achieve what we want to achieve, we actually start to realise our potential. And so, as we head into the school year let us all commit to having the right attitude, for accepting responsibility for our performance and for being the best self we want to be. So many of our students do this on a daily basis – imagine if all of our students do this every single day! PARENT WELCOME FUNCTION / PARENT VISITS TO SHOREHAM/ SUPPORTING SPORT / ATTENDING INFORMATION EVENINGS Thanks to the large number of parents who attended last Friday’s Parent Welcome Function. It was great to see so many people gathering together and enjoying each other’s company. Thanks also to parents who have been able to attend their child’s Year 7 Shoreham camp on the visitors’ night. Thanks to those parents who have supported their children at sport. It really does make a huge difference if you can attend sport and encourage your child and their teammates. GREAT ATTITUDESAs we launch into the new school year there is clear evidence right across the School of positive, constructive attitudes.

SUPPORTING SPORT / ATTENDING INFORMATION EVENINGS

Thanks to the large number of parents who attended last Friday’s Parent Welcome Function.

Well done also to those parents who have attended Parent Information Evenings this last week. As staff, we really appreciate you coming along and being more informed about the year ahead.

Already the School is a busy, highly constructive place. Thanks to our wonderful staff and students for all they are bringing to the School each and every day. Let’s all work to maintain and further improve our attitudes each and every day.

Best wishes to all.
