Step 1 - Installing the BatteryNote: For LITTLEmack™ remove mounting base to access battery door. (see page 9)
Remove the battery door Insert a 9 – volt battery Replace door
Note: Make sure battery is fresh and making contact.
Step 2 – Recording the Messages1. Turn on.2. Press and hold both the record button and switch top simultaneously.
(light will begin to flash)3. Record message.
Sample message: “Did you know Mount Rainier is located near Seattle, Washington?”
4. Release both switch top and record button.
Step 3– Playing the MessagesPress switch top and adjust to the proper volume.

Snap Switch CapA snap switch cap has been included with the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™. Usethis clear plastic cap to secure pictures/symbols to the switch top.
Playing a Message with an External Switch1. Plug any commercially available switch with a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) plug into the
switch jack on the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™.2. Record message into the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™.3. Press the external switch to play the message.

Controlling Toys/Appliances
Battery Operated Toys/AppliancesThis feature allows you to activate a battery operated toy/appliance for the lengthof a message using the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™. A battery operatedtoy/appliance, Notching File, and Battery Device Adapter (sold separately) arerequired to use this feature. If device is already adapted go to Step 3.
1. Open the battery door of the toy/appliance and using the notching file put a notch in the battery door. This allows the Battery Device Adapter to be positioned properly.
2. Place the copper disk of the Battery Device Adapter between either the positive or negative end of the battery and the connection. Replace door.
3. Record a message into the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™. (see page 4 for recording messages)Sample Message:
“Watch my little penguin dance. Isn’t it cool?”Note: The toy/appliance will run for the length of the message.

4. Plug the toy/appliance cable into the toy/appliance jackon the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™.
5. Plug the other end of the toy/appliance cable into the Battery Device Adapter with the toy attached. Turn toy “on”.
6. Press the switch top to play the message and activate the toy/appliance.
Note: If you want the toy appliance to run for a longer period of time a Switch Latch and Timer(SLAT) can be added.

Electrical Toys/AppliancesThis feature allows you to activate an electrical toy/appliance using theBIGmack®/LITTLEmack™. A PowerLink® 3 Control Unit and electricaltoy/appliance (sold separately) are required to use this feature.
1. Record message into the BIGmack™/LITTLEmack™. (see page 4)Sample Message:
“Say, we could use a little light in here.”
2. Plug the toy/appliance cable into the toy/appliance jackon the BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™.
3. Plug the other end of the toy/appliance cable into the switch jack 1 or 2 on the PowerLink®3.
4. Plug the PowerLink® 3 into the wall outlet.5. Plug the appliance into the corresponding outlet on the PowerLink® 3.
Turn appliance “on.”6. Set desired amount of time on the PowerLink® 3.7. Press BIGmack®/LITTLEmack™ switch top to play message and activate the
appliance for the amount of time set on the PowerLink® 3.

The LITTLEmack™ comes with a detachable Mounting Base.
Detaching the Mounting Base from the LITTLEmack™1. Press the quick release tab on the mounting base.2. Slide the base towards the back of the device.
Attaching the Mounting Base to the LITTLEmack™1. Position the four posts on the Mounting Base into the corresponding holes on
the bottom of the LITTLEmack™. 2. Slide the base forward until it clicks into place.

Temporary Wall Mount of Mounting Base (figure 1)1. Place mounting plate on wall and mark location of the slotted screw holes.2. Drill a hole where marked and insert screw. (#8 pan head screw)3. Attach screw to wall and leave 1/4”-1/8” sticking out.

Connecting the mounting base to the small triangular plateWhen using the LITTLEmack™ mounting base with an AbleNet mounting systemattach the mounting base to the small triangular plate using the screws and wingnuts provided with the small triangular mounting plate. This enables you toquickly connect and disconnect your LITTLEmack™ from a mounting system.
