Key inclusion / exclusion criteria: For the Hope course (group): 75% of patients must be currently or have been previously under the care of the Wythenshawe Hospital or Withington Hospital. For one-to-one and other groups: patients can only access if they are currently or have been previously under the care of Wythenshawe Hospital or Withington Hospital.

Nature of interventions (individual or group)
- One-to-one direct clinical work - Couple counselling - Psychosexual counselling
Groups - Hope Course (for patients who are currently undergoing treatment or completed cancer treatment but
still struggle to get back to normal or a “new normal”-- 6 weeks course (2.5 hours per session); 8-10 patients per group; runs 3 times a year.

-Bereavement group—children group (Pebbles) and adult group (Stepping Stones) run alongside each other for six months; 2.5 hours per session; 1 session per month; Both groups run twice a year. Patients are unable to join the group once it has started; they can however attend the monthly drop-in to address their grief whilst waiting for the next group to start. - SCARS group (for patients with body image and relationships after cancer)—2 sessions for men and 2 sessions for women; 2 hours per session; ongoing running service.

How to refer? Referral procedure:
If your patient is currently under the Christie Hospital for cancer care, please contact the treating clinician or nurse to discuss a possible referral to the Christie Psycho-Oncology team as referrals must come from the Christie staff members.
The Psycho-Oncology team holds weekly Triage meetings to allocate referrals, review patients' progress, and decide which care pathway or intervention is most appropriate for the patient.
Referrers wishing to discuss a patient's psychological problems are welcome to attend these weekly meetings.

Group: - 8-week programme. Morning sessions--clients are offered one-to-one session in the morning and that
they have the opportunity to socialise and have lunch with others clients. Afternoon sessions (between 1.5--2 hours)—clients can choose (as a group) which topics they want to cover (e.g. coping strategies, management of fatigue and anxiety, nutrition and healthy eating, self-talk, the “new normal” etc.)
- 12-week bereavement support group: group and one-to-one work rotate on a weekly basis (e.g. week 1: one-to-one work; week 2: bereavement group; week 3: one-to-one work; week 4: bereavement group etc.). Bereavement group is facilitated by a group facilitator, covering topics such as grief, anxiety management, sharing memories, relaxation, self-care, helping yourself and practical solutions.

Presenting psychological distress is as a result of or in relation to a physical health condition/physical illness
Exclusion Criteria
Risk: The patient has current suicidal thoughts with a plan or intention to act upon these thoughts. Such patients should be referred to crisis services for prompt assessment.
The patient already has current and ongoing psychology input from another service.
