Green and Blue Footprints Tool: Decision Support for Living Cities
Problem Our Solution
“Green & Blue Footprints Tool” combines the power of:
• high-resolution satellite/ drone imagery
• machine learning • interactive visualization
to generate reliable, low-cost geospatial data on footprints & attributes of urban green & blue spaces at-scale
Natural ecosystems are at odds with the forces of unplanned urbanization. Without reliable inventories of green areas & water assets, govts. remain uninformed & powerless to manage urban expansion in a sustainable & resilient manner.
How did this all begin?
• “There is a really cool analysis of green spaces, super cheap product that we could turn around in 2 months for 26 cities….and someone else will do the quality control….do you want it? ” ☺

“Meaningful innovation does not need to be based on outright invention. Rather, there is an exhilarating shortcut. It is based on bold, new combinations of already existing components that simultaneously unlock heightened levels of consumer value and reduce costs.” - Gabor George Burt
