• LaSt SeaSoN’S MeetiNgS: Green Bay and Valpo split a pair of contests in 2011-12, with Valpo holding off a furious Green Bay charge (90-87) on Dec. 31 and the Phoenix winning 75-60 at the Resch Center on Jan. 26. In that win, Kam Cerroni made five three-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points. In the two meetings, Cerroni went 8-of-13 from long range and averaged 17 points.

• BroWN VS. the CrUSaDerS: In four career games against Valparaiso, Brown has been consistently tremendous. The 7-foot-1 Brown has scored at least 15 points in each game and is averaging 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. He is 26-of-51 (51 percent) from the field and 22-of-23 from the foul line in the games. Last year at the ARC, Brown went 8-of-15 from the field and totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds.

• LookiNg to JoiN the CLUB: On the strength of his 74 points against Valpo, Brown has 963 career points and is closing in on becoming the program’s 25th member of the 1,000-point club. The last Phoenix player to join the 1,000-point club was Rahmon Fletcher, who also did so as a junior in 2009-10.

• reSerVe roLeS: Despite playing just three players off the bench, Green Bay got 31 points from its bench against Youngstown State. Freshman Carrington Love made all three of his shots and 5-of-7 free throws en route to 11 points. Also off the pine, senior Brennan Cougill and Cerroni added 11 and nine points, respectively. The 31 points scored off the bench was the second most by the Phoenix this season and most in a Horizon League game.

• Free aND eaSY: Green Bay is second in the Horizon League, and its 75.2 percent from the line ranks 20th nationally. The Phoenix is 321-427 on the season and, among teams ranked in the top-25 nationally in free-throw percentage, Green Bay has made the third-most free throws. Green Bay has made more free throws than any other Horizon League team, and on its recent four-game homestand the Phoenix made 30 more free throws than its opponents attempted.

• DoUBLe the FUN: Against Cleveland State, Fouse (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Cougill (11 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles to give the Phoenix six double-doubles this season. The game marked the fifth time in Green Bay’s Division I history that two players had double-doubles in the same game, and the second time this season. Brown (17 points, 13 re-bounds) and Cougill (17 points, 10 rebounds) against Southern Utah on Nov. 16. Remarkably, four of the occasions with two double-doubles have happened under Wardle.

Wardle, the Phoenix is 31-7 at the Resch Center, including a 21-3 mark since the start of the 2011-12 season. • Aside from its defense, Green Bay is shooting 45.6 percent at home and out-rebounding opponents by four boards per game. • Led by Keifer Sykes (60-75), Green Bay has made 68 more free throws than its op-ponents have attempted. Sykes is averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 assists at home.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? • Through his first two and a half sea-sons, Alec Brown has positioned himself to become one of the best players in program history. • He became the first sophomore in 18 seasons to be named first-team all-confer-ence (Jeff Nordgaard in 1993-94 and Tony Bennett in 1989-90 were the last two). • His 739 points were the fourth-most through a sophomore season in the pro-gram’s Division I era, and he now has 949 points for a career average of 11.9 ppg. • Brown’s 425 rebounds were the most by a Green Bay player through a sophomore campaign in DI history. • The 7-foot-1 Brown has reached dou-ble figures in 52 of 81 games and made 80 starts.

BLOCK PARTY • Brown has blocked 16 shots in the past four games and now has 31 on the

tion’s top point guards. • The honor named after Hall of Famer Bob Cousy is handed out at the Final Four to the player named the top point guard in the country.

RECORD STREAK • With a miss against UIC, junior Kam Cerroni saw his school-record free throw streak of 40 consecutive free throws come to an end. • Cerroni broke the record of 38 previ-ously held by Matt Rohde (2002-03) with a pair of free throws at Detroit on Jan. 5, and his streak dated back to Feb. 4, 2012. • The junior made all four of his free throws against Youngstown State and is now 32-of-33 at the charity stripe this season (97 percent).

KAM CATCHING FIRE • Cerroni led the Horizon League in three-point percentage as a sophomore in 2011-12 but struggled early this season from long range. However, Cerroni is starting to catch fire. • He drained all three of his attempts from beyond the arc against Loyola, and since Dec. 12 at Wisconsin, Cerroni is shooting 45.5 percent (15-33) from three-point range.

HOME SWEET HOME • Green Bay is 9-1 at home this sea-son after six consecutive victories. In the past three seasons under head coach Brian

at greeN BaY 75, VaLPo 60 Junior Kam Cerroni has been playing at a high level for a few weeks for Green Bay. On Thursday night, his team needed a bounce back effort to kick off a three-game homestand, and Cerroni took his game to an even higher level. The sophomore made five three-pointers and hit 6-of-7 free throws en route to a career-high 23 points, helping the Phoenix to a convincing, wire-to-wire 75-60 victory over visiting Valparaiso in Horizon League play. Cerroni scored 11 of Green Bay’s points during a 15-5 run that turned a four-point lead (46-42) into a 61-47 margin with 7:49 left. Cerroni’s big night overshadowed great balance by the Phoenix, who placed four players in double figures, and a somewhat historic night for Alec Brown. The two swats by Brown give him 132 for his career and tie him with Terry Evans (2005-09) for the most in program history, a record that has looked inevi-table to be broken by Brown since he had six in his college debut.

series since Jan. 7, 1995 (50-48). • Green Bay improved to 3-9 all-time in the series and, of course, 1-0 at home.

IN THE ZONE • Green Bay played almost exclusively zone defense in the win over Marquette, and the scrappy Phoenix stifled the Golden Eagles throughout the night, especially in the sec-ond 20 minutes. • In the second half, Marquette scored just 16 points and made 6-of-22 field goals. • Green Bay’s 49 points scored were the fewest scored in a Phoenix win since beating Detroit 45-42 on Jan. 30, 2006.

RECORD TRIES • Against Chicago State, Green Bay broke a 32-year old program record for free throws made in a game by knocking down 41-of-48 from the charity stripe. • Sykes had 17 of the team’s free throws to break the program’s individual record of 15.

• The Phoenix defeated North Dakota State (RPI #53) on Nov. 24 and Marquette (RPI #20) on Dec. 19.

haULiNg iN 500 • Junior Alec Brown had one of his best efforts of the season against South Dakota. The 7-foot-1 big man was an efficient 8-of-10 from the field and made both of his threes en route to a game-high 19 points. • Brown also grabbed eight rebounds to become the 14th Phoenix player to corral 500 for his career. He now has 551 career rebounds, grabbing 193 offensive rebounds and 358 defensive rebounds in 81 games.

gettiNg DeFeNSiVe • Green Bay held Illinois-Springfield to just 43 points on Dec. 30, a season low for a Phoenix opponent. • The game also featured season lows in field goal makes (15), field goal percentage (25.9%) and free throw attempts (7). • The 25.9 percent field goal percentage was the lowest in Resch Center history and the lowest by a Phoenix opponent since Nov. 17, 2000 (Idaho - 22.6%).

HISTORIC WIN • Not only was Green Bay’s 49-47 on Dec. 19th win over Marquette historic be-cause it was the first time the Golden Eagles had visited Green Bay in 12 all-time meetings, but it was also the first Phoenix victory in the
