Collection CalendarWaste Reduction Tips

Choose products that have minimal or no packaging.Pick reusable instead of disposable. Donate items for reuse or purchase used: www.scrd.ca/reuse-directory. Borrow from a friend or neighbour.Recycle or compost as much as you can before disposing as garbage.Visit www.scrd.ca/holiday-recycling for reduction and recycling tips for seasonal celebrations year round.

Green Waste Recycling

Green waste can be composted in your backyard or taken to one of the SCRD drop-off locations. For location information and what’s accepted, visit www.scrd.ca/composting. Did you know? Dumping green waste in our forests or beside the road is illegal—dumping can harm our waterways, spread invasive species, and attract wildlife.

Home Composting

Get started or brush up on home composting at www.scrd.ca/composting for tips on keeping your compost productive and safe from wildlife. Home composting helps your garden and the environment. For the materials you are not backyard composting, use your Green Bin.

Residential Recycling

The SCRD provides recycling through Recycle BC’s residential recycling program at three depots on the Sunshine Coast. For location information and what’s accepted visit www.scrd.ca/recycling-depots.
