PROGRAM
DAY ONE: 1 DECEMBER 2014, MONDAY
TECHNICAL TOUR PROGRAM
1:30PM GBPW 2014 Technical Tour Registration Begins
2:00PM Study-Tour delegates board coaches from the basement parking bay of Borneo Convention Centre Kuching
2:10PM Study-Tour delegates arrive at Sarawak Energy Berhad
2:20PM Welcome Remarks by Sarawak Energy Berhad
2:30PM Introduction & Overview of Sarawak Energy’s New Low Energy HQMr. Gregers Reimann, Managing Director, IEN Consultants Sdn BhdThe new SEB HQ was designed to be an energy efficient and green building. In fact, the SEB HQ is the first green rated building in Sarawak. The presentation will give review of sustainable design features of the building, the key of which relate to the façade daylight design, the energy efficient equipments and operation and the solar PV system on the roof
3:00PM Guided Tour• Atrium
A high volume ellipsoidal central atrium that is passively cooled by encapsulating the spill-over air-conditioning inside the atrium. This is achieved by installing air-lock doors at the atrium level that prevent the cool air from rushing out onto through the entrance doors. The second passive cooling comes from the water features in the atrium which are fed the cool condensation water from the cooling system (air handling units). Moreover, the atrium was carefully designed to give a pleasant daylighting level
• General Office AreaThe offices are designed to be daylit. We will study how the fixed louvers, the external lightshelves, the elevated ceiling along the perimeter and the daylight responsive lighting control helps to save energy for electric lighting. The facades are deliberately designed to face North and South in order to avoid low angle sun exposure, which is hot and glary
• Technical RoomWe will visit one of the air handling units, which filters the air with an electrostatic filter, which has a low pressure loss and therefore saving fan energy
• Sub-Basement Car Park or The RoofIf we are allowed onto the roof, we can see the solar panels, the chiller and cooling towersIn the sub-basement car park, we can study the roof lights giving a partially daylit basement car park and a mental connection to the outside. Rainbow prisms in the roof lights project rainbows onto the car park floor during morning and evening hours, helping to enhance experience of a connection to the outdoors
