Sherry Adair is our Lodge's Elk of the Month for October 2016. Sherry serves as our Newsletter
Editor and digital distributor of special
information for Lodge members. Her artistic
and creative gifts coupled with her dedicated and
persistent traits make her an exceptional member of our Elk Team. Beyond her primary duties, Sherry cooks Sunday
afternoons, helps to plan Lodge events, and anything else she is asked to do.
She is a willing volunteer, who lives our motto "We are Elks, Who serve."
The GCS Police Department Benefit on September 10th to raise funds for its "Trunk or Treat" event to be held October 29th was a great success with 157 people attending. Their auction and drawings brought in over $5000 for "Trunk or Treat". This would not have been possible without the volunteers who cooked, served, and decorated. Thanks to them all and the 60 plus Lodge members who attended the event.
October is shaping up to be another busy month. October 1st: Lodge Yard Sale Sale and GCS Soul Food Parade are in the morning with NE District VP Glenn Gardner's visitation to St Augustine Lodge #829 at 6:00 PM that evening. Volunteers are still needed to position parade units from 10:00 AM to 12:00pm. If you can help, please contact me. October 8th: Kid's Fishing Day at the Lodge. Richard Felkey is heading this up for kids from the Charles E. Bennett Elementary School. October 15th is the day for our Lodge's famous "Wild Game Feast". Advance tickets are on sale now. Thanks to Tim Smith for taking the lead on this. October 22nd: NE District VP Glenn Gardner's "home coming" visitation coming” visitation to his Gainesville Lodge #990 at 6:00 PM. We need someone to run the "Hoop Shoot" contest. If you are interested in this youth project, please contact me. As you can see our Lodge is a busy and active place and we need members to volunteer. Please be a part of the action. "We are Elks, Who serve." Gene Rittenhouse Exalted Ruler
September’s initiation brought our member count to 732. This is thanks to all of you! We still have 59
members who have not yet renewed, but it’s not too late. If you have not been to the Lodge lately, please stop by and visit with your old friends. Steak Night restaurant style was recently added with entertainment once
a month. This month’s Steak Night is October 28th and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Thank you to the Members of the Green Cove Springs Lodge who have taken part in the annual Harry-Anna Trust Fund pin sale. This year's pin features State President John Harris' motto "Blasting Elkdom into the Future." Proceeds from the pin sale support the Children's Therapy Services and Youth Camp. Through the matching funds offer from our Bingo Committee, our Members pay only $25 but receive credit for a $50 pin donation! There are only a few pins left so please contact Tracy Carroll at [email protected] if you would like to support the Children's Therapy Services and Youth Camp through the purchase of one of these pins.
