Institutionalising SDGs in Maharashtra, Mumbai, 11th April 2019

Page 2: Green & Inclusive Agri Supply Chains · ITC’s Climate Smart Village Programme. 1. Cluster project villages basis current resilience status ... • Bundled package through ecosystem

• Partnership: ITC & CGIAR’s Climate Change, Agriculture & Food Security (CCAFS) programme

• Objective: Climate resilient agriculture for long-term food security and poverty alleviation

• Enablers:

• Improve farm productivity & incomes

• Conserve/enrich eco-system services (land/forest/water)

• Promote socially inclusive growth

• Crops covered: Paddy, wheat, soya, sugarcane, mango,, onion & gram

Climate Smart Agriculture – Key Elements

Q 1

Most resilient

Action: Increase resilience & yield

Q 3

Way Forward

• Results of CSA technologies and practices demonstrate large scope for improvingcrop yields and farmers’ income, building resilient and reduction of emissions

• Bundled package through ecosystem approach necessary to address problems ofsmallholder agriculture

• Integration and convergence of CSV program to state and local governmentprogrammes very important for the sustainable and long-term impacts

• Large reach out possible thru:

• Public Private Partnerships for scale; and

• Collaborations with national and international research for knowledge and solutions

• Agri businesses play key role in ensuring continuous improvement

• Community participation is the key for ownership and sustainability
