Business Donations

For every purchase, customers can

choose to have $1 added to their

total purchase and this money will be

donated to Green Light.

Donations Now: Pros

• Saying exactly what the person’s money is going to is a rather nice way to encourage people to donate, as they know exactly what they are getting for their money.

• Allowing donators to pick the neighborhood is another good way to make people feel they are having a direct impact.

Donations Now: Cons

• Currently donations can only be done by pre-set increments.

• The donations page resembles an online shopping website do to the button, making it look somewhat unprofessional.

Potential Updates• Replace the drag-down menu with an

select-option’s menu such as the one shown bellow.

• Continue to make it clear what each increment gets you.

• Unify if you are using digits or words when you say the number of homes.

• Keep the donation window small so it is not obstructive, but have it on the top right of every page.

Potential new look

• Simple, small, can be put on every page without seeming too flashy, yet also still can draw the eye.

• see exactly what their money buys

• donate in other increments

• still chose a neighborhood to send their donation to

Incentives Program?• Offering a rewards program for

donating might also be helpful.• Could get a bumper sticker for a

$5.00 donation, a pin for a $10.00 donation, and T-Shirt for a $20.00 donation.

• These would compound on each other, so someone who donates $20.00 would get all three items.

• Continuing with the theme of making the person feel directly responsible for helping someone, you could send them a picture of the family their donations went to.

Problems with Incentives• The problem is the cost-benefit analysis.

Incentive programs do not tend to actually draw people to donate, they just serve as a reward for those who already plan to.

• This would also cut the amount of “profits” you would get from each donation.

• Overall, until you see a massive rise in the numbers of donations, I would recommend sticking with sending people pictures of what their money did, as this is cheep, easy, and might encourage them to donate again.
