Announcements
2010 Candidates Get Started NOW!!!
If you are planning to be a candidate for either partisan or nonpartisan office, you should begin planning and organizing your campaign now -- including: preparing a campaign plan; recruiting your support volunteers; familiarizing yourself with FPPC forms. You must form a FPPC candidates committee BEFORE you can collect money for your candidacy (unless you intend to receive and spend less than $1,000). You also must have a designated checking account that is used only for campaign purposes. However, you may wish to wait to file your FPPC Form 410 until July 1, 2009, so you do not have to file a semi-annual report by July 31st. But if you have donors waiting to give you campaign funds, get going ASAP! Remember that there are significant filing fees for partisan office candidates if you do not obtain sufficient petition signatures-in-lieu of filing fee. Also remember that some organizations begin their endorsement process as early as October before the June 2010 Primary Election.
17 of 18 Agenda – (Draft) Campaigns & Candidates Working Group
Hosts Needed For Candidate Training Workshops And CCWG Strategy Meeting
Local hosts are needed to locate and arrange sites for day-long candidate training workshops and a separate day-long strategy meeting this summer. The CCWG will provide room rental and food costs. Local hosts serve as contacts with the facility, arrange food orders, coordinate local publicity and provide lodging for out-of-area participants. The next strategy meeting will be in northern California and usually is held in August. Discussions about training workshops have recently been about focusing on the perspective of campaign managers. Local GP endorsement if welcome but not required. For more information, send an email inquiry to the CCWG email list at [email protected].
