Your Ramadan roundupThis Ramadan, a variety of events took place across Emaar communities under our campaign, ‘Ramadan for All’. Under this initiative, we focused on promoting a responsible society and nurturing a sense of community and solidarity during the Holy Month through a plethora of activities and events which included: • Charity drive: Thanks to your generosity, over 14,000 kgs of donated clothing was collected across cloth banks located at community mosques and apartment complexes.

• Daily Iftars at mosques: Daily Iftars were a regular feature at all our community mosques and prayer halls have been serving up an average of 3,000 Iftar meals in a day.

• Serving the Service Providers: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, residents and homeowners came together and served Iftar meals to cleaners, security guards, lifeguards and workers in their community with a true spirit of giving. Held across several communities, fasting and non-fasting residents also came together to share packaged food, fruits and juices with their community workers, cutting across social status and backgrounds. A WOW initiative!On May 10th 2017, a new initiative was started by the women of wonder (WOW) group, called “Little Book Worms” Under the leadership of Ms. Aarthi Bhardwaj, these ladies took couple of hours away from their busy schedule to read stories, and recite nursery rhymes to kids who are generally accompanied by their nannies to the playground every evening. Given the overwhelming response and appreciation from some of the parents, it has been decided that this event will take place every Wednesday at 6.00pm, at the lawn beside Nando’s restaurant.

A special contemporary creative dance event was also organised by the WOW where performing artist Neva and Raphael were invited all the way from New York. The main aim was to help women recognize their power to change or mould their bodies according to one’s wish. Women from different backgrounds and age groups participated. By the end of the 2-hour session, women felt empowered and could recognise their hidden strengths. More events shave been planned. Double the blessing!This year ECM organized a very special Iftar for our Service Providers where for the first time, they were treated to a luscious buffet of traditional Arabic delicacies, along with shimmering scenes of Dubai from a dhow journey. Yes, our dedicated staff who work relentlessly for the upkeep of our communities were sent out into the Arabian sea to break fast and enjoy the spectacular views of the sunset. It was heartwarming to see some of our workers with tears of joy as it was the first time they experienced something like this.

The event will be held at the ICC Academy, Dubai Sports City.

What’s happening in your community

New kids play area at Al Sidir It is so important to get our kids out of home, especially in this so called “Digital age”. Our Goal is to take children back to those happy times when play involved fresh air, friendship, exercise and imagination. We have installed a new inspiring play equipment which is more durable and meets the strictest norms of personal safety.

Additional fencing at the Lake areasKeeping in mind the safety of our residents, additional gates have been installation at the podium levels and around the lake area. This was excluded in the original design but has now been installed.

Internal painting inAl Sidir and Al GhafSome of the corridor walls were in poor and faded condition due to the passage of time, humidity and exposure to other elements. To restore its original look and to give the community a fresh makeover, the walls in Al Sidir and Al Ghaf have been repainted.

Refurbishment of washrooms at the Masjid The washrooms at the Masjid were old and needed a refurbishment. New contemporary style fittings have now been used giving the place a different look and feel. Work was ongoing day and night to ensure it was completed right in time for Ramadan for our residents to enjoy.

Planter box refurbishmentThe planter boxes at the courtyard of Al Dhafrah, Al Thayyal, Al Arta, and Al Alka is undergoing a major refurbishment. This will cover repairs, repainting, provision of drain lines and installation of new coping tiles.

New Motor bike parking at MoselaFirst of its kind, Mosela tower now has a separate dedicated parking space for motorbikes in the community. Situated on the ground level, it provides easy access for motorists going in and out of the community.

Newly refurbished carpark entrance ramps at T2 CommunitiesWe have recently refurbished the ramps at the carpark entrances of Al Dhafrah, Al Samar, Al Thayyal, Al Ghozlan, Al Arta and Al Alka-3 communities in The Greens. The cracks that have developed on the ramp overtime were repaired and painted with epoxy paint for durability.

Upgrade of the access control system at T2 To improve the security, safety and wellbeing of the communities, the access barriers at Al Thayyal, Al Samar, Al Ghozlan, Al Alka and Al Arta have been upgraded. New access barriers were installed in March 2017. The access control system at Travo and Arno have also been upgraded. A new card reader system was installed in March 2017 and residents were issued new parking cards replacing their old remote-control devices which were being misused by some. We hope the new card system tightens security.
