SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLYGRADE 11 AND 12
HELD FRIDAY, 21 APRIL 2017BASKETBALL SENIOR HALF CLOLOURS
Nhlanhla JiyaneChristopher Theori
RE-AWARD SENIOR FULL COLOURS
Khanyisa Hobyane Khanyisa has her own, unique style of playing; in defence, she is the loudest and strongest player. Her attitude and resilience are not easily influenced. She has been a good role model to the junior girls: she is not selfish with the ball and is always there to assist a teammate. It is our hope that she continues to create opportunities even in the most improbable of situations. She is a truly inspirational young lady.
Katiso TsotetsiWhen you combine talent and hard work, you get Katiso Tsotetsi. Her attitude towards the sport alone is exceptional. You see it when she plays, when she takes charge and ‘sets up’ during a match. She always takes chances and never underestimates her abilities. That is why she is the leading basketball scorer at Greenside High.
Francesco MbeleBill Russell once said, “What distinguishes a great player is his presence. When he goes onto the court, his presence dominates the atmosphere”. For five years, Francesco’s presence and leadership have been exceptional! In that time, he has not only grown as a player but as a captain as well. His dedication and commitment can clearly be seen the moment he steps onto the court. He leads the team with pride and buoyancy. He sets a great example for his fellow teammates. His conduct and character “dominate the atmosphere”. It is our hope that he continues to do that in all aspects of his life.
Vanessa is the newly elected captain of the girls’ basketball team. In many ways, she is the crown jewel of the girls’ team: her presence can be felt across the court during practice and at matches; she is crucial to the team’s defence;she is a supportive teammate. Her attitude and behaviour have won the girls’ respect.

Rumbi MunyanyiSince the first practice, Rumbidzai has shown great enthusiasm. She takes her touch rugby very seriously and this shows in how much her individual skills have improved. She has helped players in the 2nd team with their game knowledge and field positioning. Her leadership skills were well tested during this season of touch at Greenside and she handled the pressure confidently. We have faith that, if she continues in this manner, she will be representing her province at even higher levels.
Paballo ManasePaballo is strong presence on the field and his skill influences the team around him to excel. He is often the decision maker on the pitch and has been the mastermind behind the team's many tries this season. His mind works faster than his opposite number’s, and the moves he calls have torn defences to shreds. He is very committed to his team mates and to making himself better and better in his position. He deserves his Full Colours for touch rugby.
Gracious Muthiba2017 has seen Gracious make great improvements to her touch game. She has capitalised on her deceptive pace and amazing hand and has improved her foundational skills. Her confidence has made her a leader in the team and her dedication is admirable. It has been a pleasure working with Gracious this season and we hope she continues her good form.
Simphiwe MothaSimphiwe was born for this sport: he plays with rare flare, intensity and skill. In the opinion of the coaches, he is the most all-rounded player in the squad. From having the vision to distribute the ball to having the speed and step to beat players one-on-one, he is in a class of his own.
Nthangeni MulaudziNthangeni has shone this year on the field and he is, without a doubt, the most improved player in the team. His touch rugby skills and knowledge have grown dramatically and he is pivotal to the success of the squad. He is not afraid to try new things at practice and to put them to use in the matches. Often, he has left the opposition flat-footed. He brings flow to the team in terms of running rugby and deserves his full-colours blazer.
Caleb MdizaAccording to his coaches, Caleb is truly something special. His touch mind is second to none and his opponents know that, when he is on the field, Greenside is on the front foot. His vision on the field is in a class of its own. He is one of few players who can be relied on for his skill and leadership without fail. He is well-deserving recipient of a full-colours blazer.
Ntokozo Simelane Re-Award
Ntokozo is an outstanding touch rugby player. He is an outspoken young man who leads the team with his energy and skill. He is far and away one of the most committed and gifted players in the squad, having represented the province at many events. He has taken charge as captain of the team and ensures everyone is pulling their weight. He is a worthy recipient of Full Colours.

PAGE 4CRICKET SENIOR FULL COLOURSYusuf Ganchi and Doné Newman
Both of these boys have dedicated themselves to Greenside cricket since Grade 8. They have performed outstandingly throughout their years of service. Yusuf and Doné have been part of Gauteng provincial cricket for some time now and it can be seen in their performances for school. Doné has grown tremendously as a captain and also developed his 'cricket thinking hat'. Even though he would call himself an all-rounder, his bowling is his strongpoint and, on many an occasion, he has bowled too well for the opposition. His aggression and accuracy have improved to make him a very tough bowler to face. Yusuf’’s batting is pure class. He has every stroke in the book and does everything with ease which is a mark of born sportsman. His century against Linden Hoerskool was memorable as he carried on playing his natural game while many of his teammates fell around him and, towards the end of his innings, frustrated the Linden bowling attack. These two boys are worthy of Senior Full Colours for cricket.
