MakerBot, the library 3d printer, wants to print the objects you need! On the printer are three sample objects: a bracelet, a chain, and a cube.

A representative from the Rhode Island Attorney's General Office is presenting a program on IDENTIY SAFETY on Tuesday, June 10 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Registration is suggested. Please call the library at 949-3630 ext. 1 to register, or sign-up on our on-line calendar at www.yourlibrary.ws.

The Library just received the 2014 - 2015 Rhode Island Blood Center Print by artist Christine McIntyre-Hannon. The library is a sponsor in the Seasons' Pass program through the Rhode Island Blood Center.

The Library gets a new, much needed roof,thanks to the Champlin Foundations.

Young Adult June NewsYoung Adult June NewsAmnesty Start summer reading without library fines. Return your overdue library books to the Smithfield High School and Gallagher Middle School Libraries until the last day of school.

Minecraft is coming to the Baker Room!!! It will be on Wednesday afternoons this summer from July 2 to August 6. We will have 10 computers set up to play Minecraft on our own server. The sign up on our

website for computer use will be available the previous Wednesday. If you own your own Minecraft account you may bring your own laptop or use one here to play along on our server. Teens looking for a place to come, relax, and cool off should stop by. Hours will be from 2:30-4:30.

Crafts

Book Buddies is a great way to earn some

community service hours during the summer. If you love reading to children, this is the program for you. There are 2 sessions, one at 10:30 and the other at 6:30 every Tuesday from July 1 - August 5. Registration is in person at the Welcome Desk. Sign up will start on June 1, any questions please call Rhonda at 949-3630x115

Summer Reading Program ~ 2014

“Spark a Reaction” is the theme this year. Registration begins June 30 for the program which

runs until August 8. If you are between the ages

of 11-17 come in to sign up. There will be weekly

prizes, incentive coupons, book buddies, special

programs and more. A brochure with all of the

programs will be available on our website and in the

library.

Stop by the Young Adult Area for “Do It Yourself” crafts and/or activities. With every activity there is a random prize drawing at the conclusion. The first part of the month we will be filling the bulletin board with “quilt squares” of our favorite books.

Safe Sitter Course

Are you interested in babysitting? Hasbro’s Safe Sitter program will be coming on Monday, July 7th , (9:00-4:00). Registration will start on June 10th and must be done in person in the library. Essential skills are taught by registered nurses for kids ages 11 to 14. There is a

$45 fee for the program, which includes all materials.

Stomp Rockets with Miss Babs and Miss Rhonda

Learn how to make your own stomp rocket and then fly it.

Anyone from age 8-14 can register online.

It will be held on July 10th from 3:00-4:30 on the front yard. Rain date will be July 15th from 3:00-4:30.

Children’s Department

Summer Reading Program 2014Fizz Boom Read is the theme of the Summer Reading Program at the Library this summer, where children ages 3 1/2_- 10 years of age will explore all kinds of science topics. Registration begins June 30th for the program which will take place from June 30-August 15th. A complete brochure detailing all of the programs during the summer will be available in June. The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizens Bank and Pepsi. Local support includes the Smithfield YMCA, A & W Root Beer, the Friends of the Library, and the Greenville Library. The-library welcomes children of all abilities.Please Note: Registration is required for all programs, so call 949-3630 x 2 to regis-ter, or do so in person at the Children’s Desk. If you sign up for a performance or program and are unable to attend kindly call the library to let us know as space is limited for all activities.

BiomesThere are so many exciting marine animals that call Narra-gansett Bay home. Come to the library to learn about these sea creatures and the many ways they BOOM! For families with children ages 4-11. Register beginning June 23 for this pro-gram to be held on Wednesday July 2 @ 10:30 am.

Water Bot-tle Holder CraftGet ready for the warm weather by making a holder for your water bottle. Children are welcome to join us at the library on Wednesday, June 11 at 4pm to make and deco-rate a cool bottle cover! Children ages 6-10 can register for this craft beginning June 2nd..

Book Buddies Children ages 3 ½ - 5 ½ may sign up to read with a teen weekly to earn reading credit towards incentives,and for fun, of course! Buddy sessions begin on July 1 and continue on Tuesdays through Au-gust 5 at 10:30 am or 6:30 pm. Registra-tion begins on June 23 for one or more of the Tuesday sessions. Children ages 6 and up may register for this program.

Bedtime Storytimes Storytimes for children ages 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 years will be held on Wednesday evenings, from 6:30- 7:15 pm from Wednesday, July 9 through August 13. Registration is required and begins on Monday, June 23rd forthe first one. Registra-tion for the following storytimes will be taken the week before each session. Children may wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal.

Movie Night at the Library Join us for a family movie on Monday July 7th. Doors open at 5:30 with the movie starting at 6:00 pm. Children ages 6-11 years of age and their parent/caregiver are encouraged to attend together. Free pop-corn and water will be provided. Registration will begin on Monday June 30th for this new program at the library!

Children's Display Thirteen year old Casey Berwick will display his baseball card collection in the children's room bubble. Casey likes baseball and collecting cards. Sports fans will want to view this great collection.
