The first two areas for construction are Orangefield Park and Victoria Park with work due to start in May 2013.

The design drawings will remain on view in the pavilion on Tues 5th, Thurs 7th and Fri 8th Feb from 1.00pm to 4.00pm for anyone unable to attend the information session. A member of the CCG Team will be at

the pavilion on Fri 8th Feb should you wish to discuss the design.

The Connswater Community Greenway/East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme is a £43 million investment in east Belfast.

The Greenway will create a 9km linear park following the course of the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers. The Connswater River is currently dirty and neglected but this project will involve cleaning the rivers to bring them back to life. The new Greenway will create vibrant, attractive, safe and accessible parkland for leisure, recreation and community events and activities.

The £11m East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme will mean the risk of flooding from the rivers and the sea is significantly reduced for 1,700 local homes and businesses.

The Greenway has been developed by the East Belfast Partnership and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Belfast City Council and the Department for Social Development. The East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme has been developed by Rivers Agency and is funded by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Before construction begins, Belfast City Council, East Belfast Partnership and Rivers Agency will be holding a series of information sessions for local residents, park users and other stakeholders at locations along the route. We would encourage you to go along, discuss the plans and help us meet your needs and aspirations for the Greenway
