PRESS RELEASE  November 2015

GREENWICH STUDENTS COMPLETE FIRST QUARTER INTERNSHIPS   The Greenwich High School’s Internship Program continues to provide valuable career exploration opportunities to high school students.  Students are partnered with community members and business people in the local area that are currently working in one of the students’ fields of interest.  The resources in this program offer a unique opportunity to prepare students for the world of work by helping them make decisions regarding future career choices.  Greenwich students venture off campus learning the relevance and value of their education.  Positive workplace behaviors are reinforced, students are better focused on career goals, and they are more likely to select occupations that match their interests and abilities.  Additionally, these students are learning invaluable life skills, which will help them to become responsible adult citizens of our society.  Students in the program participate in up to four, unpaid internships during the school year.  Along with onsite observation and participation in career areas of interest, the students are required to complete daily journals and career reflection projects.    During the first quarter thirteen seniors participated in the program. Career interests include public safety (EMS & Fire), elementary education, agriculture education, music education, law enforcement, business management, agriculture business, and accounting.  Listed below are the students and their internships sponsors.  Abraham Bates North Country Flowers & Rural Soul Kyle Boddery Helping Hands Physical Therapy Daniel Callahan Argyle EMS Meghan Coldwell Greenwich High School  Ms. Foote & Mr. Kelly, Agricultural Education Kaylah Gulley Capital Tractor Lucia Hogan Greenwich Central School District – Ms. Towne, School Psychologist Casey Hunter Greenwich Central School District – Ms. Harkins & Ms. Kenney, Elementary Ed Quinton Kapper Battenkill Golf Course & Brownell’s Sales & Service Kameron Mosher Saratoga Springs City Fire Department Keith Pratt Greenwich Central School District – Ms. Kusaywa, Elementary Ed Kiernan Spigner Greenwich Central School District  Mr. Brophy & Mr. McQuirk, Physical Ed James Telesco Cambridge/Greenwich Police Department Clayton Wilson Cutie Pharma Care  The support and guidance of the employers and their employees plays an integral role in the success of this program.  As a member of the community or as a local business member you can invest in the future
