Valedictorian - Josie Campbell
Josie Campbell is the daughter
of Jan and Jeremy Campbell. She has a
4.0 GPA. She has been a part of the
varsity basketball and softball team for
four years.
She received
all-league
and all-
district in
softball. She
also played
on the girls’
golf team
her senior
year. Josie is
vice-president of Senior Beta and
National Honor Society and is
president of student council. She is
also treasurer of National Art Honor
Society. Josie was also involved in
yearbook and prom committee. In
FFA, she recently earned her state
degree and she is also treasurer of
FFA. This year, she participated in
Greyhound Pride. Outside of school,
Josie is involved in 4-H, junior fair
board and church.
This coming fall she plans on
attending Shawnee State University
and getting a bachelor’s degree in
education and then a masters in speech
therapy through the University of

Darrington White is the

Manchester FFA State Convention
and Flower Sales
For the
month of May,
FFA began their
annual flower
sales on May 6th
and it ran until
the end of
school. FFA had
300 hanging
baskets and over
250 flats of different annual flowers and
garden plants.
The Manchester High School FFA
attended state convention the week of May 2-
3rd. Josie
Campbell
and Taylor
Ogden
received
their state
degree at
the
convention.
Josie Campbell (Treasurer) and Meagann
Stamm (Secretary) were recongized for their
gold rating on their officer books.
While in Columbus, the group visited
the Columbus
Zoo. They also
played lazer tag
and ate a several
good restaurants.

James and the Giant Peach
James and the Giant Peach, directed
by Ma’ry’e Kinhalt, was presented Saturday,
May 11th and Sunday May 12th.
Cast and Crew members gave an excellent
performance each time it was presented. The
cast and crew members were Matthew

Emma Grooms, Maegann Stamm, Alex

MHS Sports
Boys Baseball
The Manchester Greyhounds are
10-11 on the season. They played
Western Latham April 20th where they
were defeated 12-2. Next, they played
Whiteoak and lost 11-1. The Hound
defeated Fayetteville April 30th 4-2.
May 7th the boys played Felecity and
lost 7-6. May 8th the boys played North
Adams and were defeated 10-0. May
14th, in tournament play, the boys
played Green. They were defeated 3-4.
Unfortunalety, the boys had a very
rough season. Hopefully, they can
regroup over the summer and improve
their skills for next year.

Softball
Congratutions to the Manchester
Lady Hounds Softball Team as they
won our first Sectional Title since 2009.
The Lady hounds defeated Green with a
10-3 win. Madison Jones and Brooke
Kennedy both pitched a great game and
all of the girls bats were hot allowing the
team to continue scoring.
After the game, the town put
together a parade for the softball team to
show their support. The softball team
has a tough game ahead of them against
Waterford this Thursday. If the softball
team wins districts, they will then
advance to state which has never been
done in Manchester Softball history.
The Lady Hounds softball record has
only continued to improve, with an 19-7
record. The Lady Hounds played
Waterford for the District Title on
Thursday the 16th! Yasmin Lucas hit a
home run. The game was tied 3-3 for
awhile. Unfortunately, it was a 4-3 loss.

May Students of the Month
Jocelyn Barajas
Jocelyn Barajas is the senior
student of the month. Here at MHS she is
involved in several activities including
cheer, yearbook, National Art Honor
Society, Senior Beta, National Honor
Society, and prom committee. She has
taken CCP classes here at the high school
to prepare herself for the future.
In Jocelyn’s spare time, she enjoys
hanging out with her friends. Her favorite
artist is Boogie and her favorite holiday is
New Years. Wedding Crashers is her
favorite movie and That 70’s Shaow is her
favorite TV show. The one thing she
would like to see changed at school is the
school spitit. Her biggest pet peeves are
liars and negative people. Her favorite
video game is 2K19.
Jocelyn’s favorite teacher is Ms.
Richards and her favorite class is
yearbook. She is looking forward to
starting the next chapter of her life. Her
plans after graduation are to go to college
and become a dermatoligist.
Ariana Alexander
Ariana Alexander is the
sophomore profiled this month. Ariana is
involved in Sr. Beta, band, choir, Theatre,
and National Honor Society here at
school.
In Ariana’s spare time, she likes to
play with her puppy. She enjoys musical
theatre and Billie Elish. Her closest
friends are Cassidy Pribble, Lexi Foster,
Matt Swearinger and Emma Grooms.
Halloween is her favorite holiday. Her
mother is her role model. Iron Man (all 3)
are her favorite movies and Teen Wolf is
her favorite TV program. Her favorite
video game is Sims 4. Chewing with your
mouth open is her biggest pet peeve. Mrs.
Lovejoy is her favorite teacher and
English is her favorite subject. The Mets
are her favorite sports team. The one thing
Ariana can not live without is music.
Ariana says she likes to think she
is talented at make-up and she easily gets
addicted to reality TV shows. Ariana is
looking forward to graduating. She plans
to get a degree in Theatre.

Hannah Horsley is the May
eighth grade student of the month. She
is thirteen-years-old.
In her spare time, she likes to
play with her animals and hang out

favorite holiday is Thanksgiving
because she likes spending time with
her family. Her role models are her

Torie Barlow
Torie is sixteen-years-old. She

holiday. She is not a big fan of school

Tiffany Montiza
Tiffany is 15 years old and she is
a freshman here at Manchester. She does
not have any siblings, but she considers
her close friends family. She has a pet
dog but wants more, along with many
other animals too.
Tiffany loves to hang out with her
friends on the weekends and her
boyfriend. Tiffany has a few hobbies
and one of her biggest pet peeves are
when she has to repeat herself. She loves
photography.
Tiffany participated in the high
school academic team this year, but she
doesn’t do any sports. Tiffany is also in
Spanish Clubs and many more here at
the school. Tiffany plans to go to college
but hasn’t fully set her mind on anything
yet. She does know she wants to move
away though, to somewhere very warm!

Matthew Swearingen
Matthew Swearingen was born
October 29th, 2003, making him 15
years old. Matt has a sister named
Katelynn. Matthew has two dogs but his
favorite animals are kangaroos. He has a
huge fear of cockroaches. His best
friends are Caleb Fryman, Lexi Foster,
Kris Walters, and Ariana Alexander.
People being disrespectful is one of
Matt’s biggest pet peeves. A hobby of
Matthew’s is 4-H.
Matt’s role model is Kayla
Oberstadt, the Ohio 4-H State Program
Manager. When asked if he could trade
places with anybody who would it be, he
answered “Bob Ross.” At school, he
participates in marching band, Beta, Tri-
M, and our pride team. His favorite
teacher will always be Mr. Sucher. He
would also like to add soccer to the list
of sports he wishes Manchester would
provide.

Greg Daley
The 8th grade boy profile for the
month of may is Greg Daley. He is 13
years old and he enjoys fishing and
hunting, listening to country music, or
spending time with his best friends

Christmas. He enjoys watching Where
the red fern Grows or watching the
Bengals on TV. His favorite teacher is
Mr. Davis and he really enjoys science.

on a farm and has three goats. Here at

subjects are reading and writing. Her

a teacher.
