Grip Cues • Place your L hand on the putter grip at the top of the handle. • Place your R hand around the grip just below your L hand. • Lift index fi nger of your L hand and wrap it over the little fi nger of your R to
connect both hands, making 1 unit.• Keep pressure of your grip fi rm (but not tight) throughout stroke.
Stance Cues• Place feet shoulder-width apart with ball in middle and in front of your stance.• Keep toes aligned so that a line from your back to front foot is parallel to a line
pointing to the target.• Bend your knees slightly and tilt forward at your waist.
Swing Cues• Keep putter head low to the ground while you take your back swing. • Keep your back swing equal in length to the follow through.• Move your wrists, arms, and shoulders together, like a pendulum. • Keep your feet and head still through the swing.• Back swing should be equal to follow-through. Length of putt determines
length of swing (e.g, Short putts use shorter swings).
Challenges• Can you reach your target in 1 putt?• Out of 10 attempts, how many times can you reach the target in 1 putt?

Shorter Chip Stance and Swing Cues• Stand with feet together.• Swing your arms from 4 o’clock (“back”) to 8 o’clock (“through”). (L-handers swing from
8 o’clock to 4 o’clock.)• Keep your head still and front elbow straight.• “Chip” the ball in the air so it lands in front of the target, then rolls to it.
Longer Chip Stanceand Swing Cues• Stand with feet about 6" (15 cm) apart.• Swing your arms from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock without changing tempo.• “Chip” the ball in the air so it lands in front of the target, then rolls to it.
Challenges• (Place hoop 10 paces away for target.) How many balls can you chip
into the target before the signal? • (Place hoop 15 paces away for target.) How many balls can you chip
into the target before the signal? • (Place hoop 15 paces away for target with an obstacle (box, cone, etc.)

Stance• Stand with feet shoulder-width, ball toward back foot.• Keep toes aligned so that a line from your back to front foot points to the target.• Bend knees slightly and tilt forward at waist.
Swing• Swing “back” until your club’s grip points to the ground behind your back foot and in line with
your target line.• Then swing “through”, keeping your front foot planted. Pivot on your back foot and shift your
weight to the front foot on the forward motion.• Keep your motion fl uid and rhythmic. • Keep your head down and still with your front elbow straight.• Get the club to skim the ground in front of the ball so it goes up high, as if being scooped, then
rolls to the target.
Challenges• How high can you pitch the ball?• (Place hoop 30 paces away for target.) How close can you pitch to the
targets?

Overlapping Grip Cues• With club head on ground pointing away from you, rest
pad of your L hand on top of club with fi ngers wrapped underneath.
• Close your L thumb against your index fi nger to form a slight “V.”
• Place “lifeline” (center of palm) of your R hand over your L thumb, wrapping those fi ngers underneath the club.
• Form a “V” with your R thumb and index fi nger and angle it toward your R shoulder.
Interlocking Grip Cues• See Overlapping Grip.• Place your R little fi nger over the top (“overlap”) of your L
index fi nger.
Baseball Grip Cues• Keep all fi ngers wrapped around the club like holding a bat.
