ATTENDEES ENJOY MONDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES

C o n g r a t u l a t i o n s ! Following Scott Belcher’s address to attendees dur-ing Monday’s lunch, he presented the 2013 True GRIT award to Chris Hilyer. The True GRIT award recognizes individuals for outstanding leadership or service in promotion of the GRITS chapter or ITS throughout the region. Additionally, Subasish Das was awarded First Place Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Extracurricu-lar Activities, and Written Essay supporting the mis-sion and goals of the GRITS chapter.

Attendees were treated to a fun filled Monday evening with local specialties thanks to sponsors, InLine and Delcan. Following a day of learning, attendees enjoyed a Hurricane Party sponsored by InLine in the Exhibit Hall. The Hur-ricane is a cocktail made famous in New Orleans and a favorite of many locals. Afterwards, Delcan sponsored an evening out at famed ACME Oyster House in the French Quarter. Attend-ees dined on cajun fare, such as red beans and rice, jambalaya, raw oys-ters, shrimp, fish, and refreshments.

Explore the Big Easy! Dinner is on your own tonight, so take advantage of the opportunity and explore all that New Orleans has to offer! With the hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter, enjoy a little sightseeing, try din-ner at the Bourbon House, sing karaoke at The Cat’s Meow, visit Pat O’ Briens, or venture off for beignets at famed Cafe Du’ Monde. Try your luck at Harrah’s Casino, or visit Howlin’ Wolf for some live music. All are within walking distance of the hotel.
