Soil Analysis Service

A simple soil test can reveal a multitude of problems - but by having this invaluable information you can tailor your fertiliser program to give your grass the best possible level of nutrition. “This really is the only true way to determine your fertiliser requirements”

The Test..

The samples will be examined for panning and general condition and root stems will be counted at intervals.

Cores will then be air dried and combined to form one sample, this sample will be tested for phosphorous, potassium and magnesium requirements.

We will also provide the pH of the sample and include any fertiliser recommendations that we consider necessary.

The simple steps to follow..

We will require 5 core samples from an area of roughly 1400m2 (1700sq.yards)

Take one core from each corner and one core from the centre.

Each sample core should be approximately 1cm in diameter and 12 cm in depth.

Send us the samples in a sealed polythene bag as soon as they are taken.

Your results and report should be with you within 10 working days.

The Kombi comes with the unique 'standard knib' attachment that gives adjustable line widths, crisp well defined line with each marking. The heavy duty battery and pump will give an 8-hour marking session before having to be re-charged. When used with Fleet's range of marking liquid there is no need for external mixing: the paint disperses into the water immediately in the 25 litre tank. At the end of the day's marking, and just a flick of a switch, the Kombi flushes clean water, drawn from it's rear water tank, through the nozzle assembly, thus eliminating expensive pump and nozzle blockages.

Why mulch around trees?

Mulching around trees helps the young tree to obtain the essential nutrients needed to survive the early stages of development. It also helps to suppress the growth of weeds around a tree's root system, with more young trees failing due to lack of mulch than from wind or any pests.

A weed mat will allow the full root system of the young tree to become fully established and support fast growth rates throughout the tree's life.

Weed Mats

Black Uvi Polythene Mats (BPM): These are the most economical on an initial purchase cost basis of the materials and provide only the absolute minimum requirements for the tree. These Mats prevent weed growth for the period of at least the two years that they last. Priced per 100.

Woven Polypropylene Mats (WPM): are far more effective as a mat to aid tree development. This material not only stops weed development due to it being lightproof but it also allows water to drain through the mat providing the essential moisture the tree needs. These Mats are also much stronger than plain UVI Mats and have a life expectancy of at least 5 years so will satisfy the young trees demands in this area also. Priced per 100

Calculate your water requirements The first thing to do before choosing an irrigation system is to consider your area carefully. Small or large? Is the local climate dry or subject to constant rainfall? Is the soil sandy, a type that absorbs water quickly, or does it contain clay, with puddles tending to form? Are you able to look after the plants every day, or not? Check the availability of water Another important preliminary operation is that of calculating mains water pressure and flow rate. To measure pressure, apply a pressure gauge to the tap; to measure flow, simply use a container with a known capacity, then consult a Claber guide for the procedure to follow. Calculate the areas to be irrigated After drawing a scale plan of your area, use a compass to mark the circles or circle sectors. These circular areas represent the surface watered by each sprinkler, overlapping to cover the entire garden. The trick for optimal irrigation and water savings is to minimise the zones of overlap; position the 90° (quarter circle) sprinklers in the corners, the 180° (semicircle) sprinklers along the perimeter, and the 360° (full circle) sprinklers in the open green spaces.
