Introduction Christopher was born in the year of 1451 in

Genoa, Italy. Christopher started learning sailing at a young age.

This was started by going on short fishing trips, then escalating into longer and more extensive trips with merchants.

He made a total of four trips to the Caribbean and South America during the years 1492-1504.

Ocean in search of a shorter route to Asia. He had a theory that the world was 25% smaller and

was more extensive. His aim was to find gold and to conquer the Taíno tribe

and colonise the region.

Columbus established a base in Hispaniola and sailed around Hispaniola and along the length of southern Cuba.

He spotted and named the island of Dominica on November 3, 1493.
