• Online courses: Available to residential students through petition only

• Petitions: Most petitions are now available online at petitions.oru.edu

• DO NOT USE petition type: Online course request- it is not for graduate level online courses but is linked to the Online and Lifelong Learning Program.

• Registrar’s Dates: Refund dates will be posted online at registrar.oru.edu at a later date. The refund policy can be found under the tab “Financial Information” in the online catalog.

• New GPA requirements: For students entering the program Fall 2019 (and beyond), the GPA requirement is now 3.0 for all programs – not just the Academic Degrees.

• Scholarships: Scholarships do not automatically renew. Scholarships for fall are available starting today. You must apply by May 15th.

Professional Counseling Program Dr. Andrea Walker, Assoc. Director

• General enrollment: Refer to pre-requisite handout

available in the INFORMATION CENTER (also a few

available right now) before enrolling in counseling

courses. Take courses in the correct sequence.

It will make your life much easier!

• Practicum/Internship Program:

• Application for the practicum and internship program and Advisor

Conference due by March 15th (before Spring Break).

• Even though the summer counseling practicum are listed under the fifth

session, they will need to be completed over the 10 weeks allotted for a

practicum, which is from May 6-July 13.

• CPCE: The Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, from 2pm-6:15pm in the Computer Lab (GC 2nd floor). It is designed to put the fear of God in you so that you will study hard for the state licensure exam! J

Professional Counseling Program, cont.

Educational Opportunities for Students:

•Travel study available, May 14-31, for Counseling Diverse Populations or Counseling across the Lifespan credit. It involves attending a Counseling Conference in Tuscany, Italy. See Dr. James ([email protected]) for details.

•ORU sponsored EMDR Training during May and June: see Dr. James for details.

Review of degree concentrations: three basic licensure tracks (LPC, LMFT, LADC/MH) and three concentrations (LPC/LMFT, LPC/LADC, LMFT/LADC) are currently available.

Additional Formatting Options:

•By this summer, all counseling courses will be offered in their new modular format, as either blended or online classes.

•In addition, starting this fall (2019), we will offer a Residential Hybrid option. This means that many of the courses will be offered in a traditional residential format (enough to qualify for financial aid for room and board). Residential Hybrid will be available for LPC, LADC, and LPC+LADC degree plan sheets. With a few minor changes to the degree plan sheets, a Residential Hybrid format can be created for any of the other degree plan sheets. Just ask your advisor or me!
