The flash forwards in our film opening are also our enigma codes because they are giving us clues as to what the film will be like and what may happen.

My film relates to other thriller’s genre characteristics because there is a dark mysterious character who follows the young girl. There is also eerie music to set the mood.

Our film opening represents typical mise en scene

because all the characters are dressed appropriately in going out clothes and the kidnapper is dressed in dark mysterious clothes so he is hard to see. The scene is also appropriate because it is late at night on the way home.

How does your media product represent certain social groups ?

• In our production we use the female side a lot. We have a group of teenage girls acting on a normal night out together, we do have a scene where there is a boy involved, because he is the kidnapper.

• We worked with the people we had available they were friends, so we didn’t have a particular group.

• There was no race, we had a selection of people who were willing to act so there was no ethnicity involved.

• Our actresses were wearing doing out clothes, they were smartly dressed and they behaved like typical teenage girls. They were drunk after coming back on their night out. When she is with her friends she acts completely normal and when she's on her own she gets out her phone.

• With the male figure he wears a typical hoodie, he is quiet and has a slouchy behaviour, but we don’t see him, we create images from looking at how he acts and what he is wearing.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Our production, being a modern day thriller, would most likely fall into a category of a standard British film. Therefore, the kind of Film Distribution Company that would back our film would be British, and would probably distribute small indie (independent) films which our production fits quite well. The name of our ideal company would be OPTIMUM , that have released many independent films and have made a name for themselves in the film industry.

Screenings of our production would take place in Art house cinemas, as we think that maybe a British film with such a hard-hitting concept, might not do so well in Multiplex cinemas. Also, because our production is an independent film, it would not be funded by a big corporation e.g. Disney, Warner Bros, this would mean that to get it to show on a Mulitplex cinema would not be the right move.

Our film is not suitable for persons under the age of 15 unless given parental permission.

My target gender for an audience is both boys and girls and I dont target a specific social group because thriller movies are such a broad social group it covers

I would think my audience might have watched these films if they were going to take an interest in watching ours because they enjoy that genre.

How did attract/address the audience?

• We made our film scary. To create effects like this we used uneasy music especially when it lead to the kidnapping moment, the music goes very quiet creating suspense. Also the girl in the flash forward screams so it shows there is a lot of tension early on in the production.

• We used a good type of camera style by using one shot between two parked cars, this makes the victim look vulnerable.

• Our pace of editing is good because we didn’t spend too long on one shot, we paced through really well and it turned out well. We didn’t have parts where the shot was too long.

• Our production is a thriller/ horror so didn’t have any humour at all in it.

• We have quite a few emotional appeals because the shot where she is screaming we feel like she is in the need of help. Also the shot of her in the shed she looks vulnerable and sad, these shots show us how emotions change so quickly and what you emotions feel to see someone in the shed, we have a good emotional appeal in our production.

What technical skills have you learnt and how was your understanding of film production developed during the process

of constructing this production?

Before the process of constructing our production, we all seemed to have the same level of skills and knowledge of media work.

Throughout the process, we have picked up on and learnt lots of new techniques. For example none of use knew how to correctly identify a different type of shot, when now we can identify every different type, mainly through practise, and knowing what to look out for when watching films and television programmes.

We have also gained an understanding of how films are made, and realised that there is a lot of different jobs that make up the workings of a good production, like planning which is very important, sound mixing and editing.

Lastly, the mise en scene (the placing of a scene) is another attribute to our knowledge gained during the making of this production.

From our preliminary task I feel I’ve learnt how to do and use shot reverse shot. We also learnt the over the shoulder shot which we used in our film opening.

Our over the shoulder shot which you can see to the right worked really well as we can see the kidnappers shadow and the girl in front.

I feel our production went really well.
