We strive to achieve our dream by developing the skills of youth mainly in the retail, hospitality, healthcare, security and facility management fields and thereafter assisting them in finding gainful employment. With this thinking in mind, we were founded in 1973 in Kolkata, India. We started off as a security guard company which then branched out into facility management, recruitment and training services. Today we have our own offices in India, Nepal, Bhutan, the United Arab Emirates with an extended presence in Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ghana, Pakistan, Philippines, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Vietnam. We have been placing skilled professionals within businesses since 2000. In this time, we have built a strong network and an exhaustive database of candidates who are actively looking for roles in the Middle East. Over the next quarter century we would like to see our training and placement presence spread across Africa, South-East Asia, Eastern Europe and China. Our Ideology GroupL FZE was founded to give internationally migrant workers an opportunity to earn a better livelihood. Our ideology is rooted in the thought that giving people tangible skills enables them to do so throughout their life. While up-skilling the workers, GroupL also ensures that they are in no way made vulnerable to the widespread exploitative labour recruitment practices. GroupL delivers value to our clients by providing them with job-ready workers who have been sourced ethically and received excellent training.
  3. 3. TRAINING We have extensive in-house training capabilities, through which our clients receive workers who are job-ready. We work with technical institutes to help us deliver skill assessment and certification. PLACEMENT We provide a complete placement solution from sourcing and selecting the best candidates, their deployment, till their welfare and repatriation. Our processes are tailored to the contract and the clients requirements. HR CONSULTING We have a pool of highly qualified and experienced managers who provide expertise to deal with a range of international labour supply chain issues including auditing, labour dispute resolution and HR administration. TRAINING Our in-house training capabilities, deliver a diverse range of training services to clients looking for job-ready candidates. Our collaborations with technical institutes enable us to conduct in-source-country training as well as assess the candidates skills. Training is essentially conducted in English with anecdotes supplied in the local language. In India, along with the Government of Kerala, we have set-up a Security Training Academy, with the specific purpose of sending trained security personnel to the Middle East. Our training can be customized to suit the clients requirements and be delivered prior to deployment of the workers. We also offer tailor-made training at clients worksites to bring up the standard of the workforce post-deployment. Case Study The Challenge: A newly established manned guarding company was trying to make its mark in the Abu Dhabi market. Providing the same level of service as others in the industry would not be sufficient for their investors to get desired returns. The Solution: GroupL sent their trainers from overseas to the clients work sites and provided on-the-job training to the security officers. New guards were trained in the source countries prior to deployment. The training did not only cover security related topics but even customer handling skills, communication skills and general awareness about the local customs in the UAE. The Result: The clients were appreciative that someone was interested in up-skilling the guards and this lead to a sharp increase in client referrals. All of the guards who were trained prior to deployment passed the licensing exams in the first attempt. Our local offices conduct pre-screening by telephone interview to confirm qualifications and proficiency in English, which is supported by secondary face-to- face screening. Our HR teams will interview and verify each candidates medical fitness and aptitude as required. Where needed, verification of credentials can also be conducted. All selected candidates undergo a pre-deployment induction training. Where required, further training can be conducted so that they arrive job-ready. Case Study The Challenge: An established retail and hospitality company required well trained retail staff to cater to for its upcoming expansion. The candidates being recruited through existing channels weren't briefed adequately and didn't have realistic expectations of life in the UAE. The client also required to establish a pipeline of candidates on a regular basis from multiple countries. The Solution: In conjunction with the client, GroupL developed specific training curriculum. The course covered topics such as customer handling, communication, appearance and local customs in the UAE. Post this, GroupL went out and shortlisted candidates for the final selection by the client in four countries. With a view to developing a pipeline of job-ready candidates we established semi-permanent training centers in these countries. The Result: Not only was the client able to source people for their immediate expansion, they were also able to develop a pipeline of candidates to cater for their requirements during the course of the rest of the year. HR CONSULTING While organisations undergo annual financial audits on without a thought, rarely do they engage in an audit of their HR practices and in particular their recruitment and selection processes. This may be due to the fact that financial transactions occur almost daily whereas processes are quickly developed when a new person needs to be hired. Our highly qualified and experienced managers are able to provide expertise to deal with a range of issues including audit of the recruitment processes, labour dispute resolution, general HR administration, etc. We provide our clients with ready to use checklists to ensure that job descriptions are kept up to date and salaries are equitable and at market rates. Case Study The Challenge: A government body was upset with the fees unscrupulous recruitment agents were charging candidates for jobs with them. This led to a demotivated workforce who left once they were debt free, thereby rendering useless their investment in training of these staff. The Solution: GroupL interviewed the candidates already in the UAE to ascertain which agents were notorious at over charging. Prior to the next cycle of recruitment these agents were made to pay a security deposit with the government body. We sent our own employees as ghost candidates to document and record the entire process. Once in the UAE, the candidates were reimbursed the excess charges from the security deposit. The proof gathered through this process was used to lodge a complaint with the countrys Embassy against the erring agents. The Result: The employees were debt free almost from the time they commenced their employment. This resulted in happier employees and a much reduced turnover amongst them.
