The Georgian’s will be appearing at Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace in 2014 to mark 300 years since George I’s accession.

Stories and gossip of the time have been uncovered and will be presented in new permanent experiences for visitors. These will include the Chocolate Kitchen at Hampton Court Palace opening on 14 February in time for those romantic Valentine’s Day itineraries. The magnificent Queen’s State Apartments and Private Apartments will transport visitors back to the early Georgian Court — 1714-1727 where they will meet fascinating characters governed by the new King, recently arrived from Hanover.

At Kensington Palace discover the curious world of the court of George II and Queen Caroline. Learn about the new fashions, manners and culture, all combined

to create what we recognise as a quintessential British style.

By 1804 a thoroughly British royal family is on the Throne, find out who the King entertained at the

palace and what was served for dinner from the adjacent Royal Kitchens.

Dress from the collections of HM The Queen, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales.

This new, glamorous, permanent exhibition open from 4 July 2013 at Kensington Palace explores the story of the monarchy in the late twentieth century featuring rare and exquisite dresses worn by HM The Queen, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales.

A nipped-in waist in the 50’s, diaphanous fabrics and short hemlines in the swinging 60’s and 70’s and sparkles and shoulder pads in the 80’s and 90’s, these are the fashion rules as we all dressed by, even the royals!

This colourful and exuberant exhibition of elegant dress displays will explore how these royal figures were representative of the spirit of each decade, reflecting and inspiring everyday fashions.

Included amongst the young Queen Elizabeth’s most memorable dresses is an exquisite strapless peach silk Norman Hartnell gown, on display for the first time in over 15 years. From the wardrobe of

Princess Margaret, the Queen’s younger sister, is a Dior gown worn for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations whilst a decade later Diana, Princess

of Wales’s Jacques Azagury ballerina length midnight blue and purple dance dress captures distinctive 80’s details such

as the dropped waist, oversized bow, wide shoulders and sparkling embellishment.

The exhibition provides a rare opportunity to get up close to these wonderful dresses and be transported to the times in which they were worn. Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales all have a special connection with Kensington Palace, making it a perfect location to celebrate these modern royal women in their fashion heyday.

Don’t forget to ensure your groups pre-book a time slot to visit, this is essential avoid disappointment. Contact [email protected] or call 0844 482 7770.
