GrowthCap’s Top 40 Under 40 Growth Investors
GrowthCap’s 2015 40 Under 40 Growth Investors list was compiled based on nominations as well
as a methodical review of the nominated investor’s deal experience, overall background, firm
reputation, and position as well as other key factors. We gave the most weight to investors whose
peers ranked them as the best of the best. Please see below for the full list.
Clockwise from top left: Daniel Kim (Bregal Sagemount), Jules Maltz (Institutional Venture Partners), Dominic Ang (Turn/River Capital), Sean Cantwell (Volition Capital)
“Having worked in growth financings for over a decade, and having spoken with hundreds of
investors along the way I am now more encouraged and excited than ever about the future of the
growth economy. The top investors on our list demonstrate the experience, talent, and drive
needed to ensure today’s entrepreneurs and executives receive the right financial and strategic
support to grow their companies and achieve success over the long run.”

segment. Kim reiterated his mission to GrowthCap, “Our mission at
Sagemount is to be the most flexible source of capital for growth
companies. We appreciate that every business and situation is
different and have built a platform that can meet entrepreneurs’
needs across all parts of a capital structure, debt or equity, minority
or control. Instead of showing up with a preconceived notion of
what an investment opportunity looks like, we start with a blank
sheet of paper and figure out what makes sense for everyone
around the table. This collaborative approach often makes
Sagemount the ideal partner for owners and operators.” The firm
has also expanded to include various credit-focused strategies. Prior

Founding Partner

see the emergence of new breed of web company – bootstrapped,

entirely online. We think these companies are, in a strange way, a
tough fit for the existing financial players: too capital efficient for
venture capital, too small for traditional private equity and too
messy for strategics. Turn/River was built specifically to step into
this gap. With our flexible capital and our data-driven operational
approach, we can help these companies double or triple their
growth rate, and build value for everyone.” Dominic is a successful
entrepreneur turned investor, and leverages his significant
operating experience to help portfolio companies optimize
marketing and distribution strategies. He is known to regularly roll-
up his sleeves and work closely with management teams to
